Hi!

So I got my case number on the 28th of August and today I received an email from the NVC saying this:

"This petition is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. You will be notified with further instructions when the processing is complete."

Did anybody else received this email or does somebody knows what this means?

That happens from time to time. NVC sees something in a case that was adjudicated from USCIS and have questions. Till those questions are answered you file will remain in AP. No, I can't say how long. No, I don't know the reason. Your file will not be shipped to your Embassy before the AP has been lifted.

Oh no! That sounds like my case will be longer at NVC instead of getting shipped on 9/4..

But other people said that this is a phase everybody will go through and it will just take a couple of days..

Also my case status on the case tracker still says ‘At NVC’.

It's not a phase that everyone experiences at NVC but yes at the Embassy it does for everyone as they process the visa with it's insertion into your passport.

I'm so glad I came on here to check. I was freaking out, thinking that maybe they lost the case or something. I hadn't checked the tracker since I received the number a week ago. I'm also having the same problem, if it helps other frantic applicants who come here looking for help!

Now that you have your case number it's time to start moving ahead if you haven't already. Here is a discussion that has recently taken place about what to do In Malaysia to get your visa processed.

Here is that recent discussion on what is needed. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/641246-what-should-i-do-for-the-next-step/

Does anyone know if the consulate in Rio de Janeiro allow you to schedule an interview before your case says READY (our case is still at NVC)?

I'm not sure if you question is going to get the answer that you can trust and move forward on from the members in this thread. They are trying to get their arms around the process from their country. I'd think you would be better served if you had followed my early post with links to places you can go other then here to get good solid answers to your Embassy specific questions. In the event you didn't save those links I'll provide the information again for your use.

You should become familiar with your country's sub-forum here on VJ to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with. This will allow you to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to take at the US Embassy - Brazil.  Sub-forum for Brazil is located here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

This is the Packet 3 (P3) letter from your Embassy.

There is a lot of information on the Embassy for Brazil here https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/frequently-asked-questions-non-immigrant-visas/

Hey guys im so confused!!! Can my fiancee use his tax return for his business as he is self employed and didn't make enough for his personal taxes last year or should he get a joint sponsor?

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

_________________________

I'm listing the generic version that is needed. Additional information is needed as sometimes different Embassy's require different documents. Not knowing your country prevents me from giving specific to your Embassy.

You are required to complete Form I-134. If the income reported on this form or your tax return reflects income below the poverty guidelines for the year the form was submitted, submit evidence of your income. This can include the following documents:

  • For those who are employed by an individual or company, submit a photocopy of an employment letter, pay stub, or pay advance (direct-deposit receipt) that meets the criteria below:
    • Includes your name and the company’s name;
    • Is on signed, business letterhead (you cannot sign the letter yourself); and
    • Is issued within the last three months.
  • For those who are self-employed, obtain a photocopy of one of the following:
    • Your business license.
    • A signed letter on business letterhead that was written within in the last three months.
    • A contract between you as an independent contractor and a company.
  • For those who are unemployed or retired, submit a photocopy of ongoing income from other means, such as:
    • retirement benefits;
    • other household members' income; or
    • other significant assets.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134.

Question: I just started a job as an attorney and will be making well over the poverty line but I didn’t last year as I lived in Belgium with my fiancé so I am having my mom be a co-sponser. She is still married to my dad does she put him as a dependant on the i-134 form she fills out, he has his own job but lives with her so I’m confused on what to tell her to put. They file taxes together.

i have some questions

- what is included in the packet that is going to be sent to my fiance?

- why are we waiting on this packet? is there something essential there? we already have our case number from NVC.

- how can you find out where to do the medical exam?

- what is absolutely necessary to bring to the interview?
