I added another I-134 question here.  I'm preparing that affidavit of support and need to know if, for my assets, I can also include an account that my fiancee and I opened this year for our wedding expenses and future life together.  (Both of us contribute to it, and it's only in my name).  Longer-term, for the I-864 affidavit of support, I also need to know if I can count a savings account she has back in Singapore on her assets.  It works somewhat similarly to a retirement account.  She's been contributing hundreds of dollars to it each month for about 8-10+ years and plans to keep contributing to it after she moves here and starts working.  She told me that it's possible to have that account pay out when she reaches age 40 or thereabouts to help pay for a new house or other major purchases.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

June 2016: We started writing to each other

June-July 2017: Met in person in the US for our first anniversary

December 2017 - January 2018: Met again in the US and got engaged

01/09/2018: I-129F sent to the USCIS Dallas Lockbox via FedEx

01/16/2018: Received NOA1 (NOA1 notice date: 01/11/2018)

June-July 2018: Met in person in Singapore and Australia for our second anniversary

08/03/2018: Notice date on our NOA2 (updated in USCIS's new website on August 6)

08/15/2018: Our case reached NVC

08/22/2018: Received NVC case number

09/04/2018: Our package left NVC (arrived 9/11, and she sent packet 3 that day)

09/20/2018: Received packet 4; scheduled interview

10/30/2018: Interview - told that we're approved!  Now waiting to receive the visa...
11/27/2018: Port of Entry at BWI

12/1/2018: Our wedding!

12/8/2018: Filed AoS on the way to our honeymoon (12/8-15/2018)
6/~7/2019: EAD and AP approved
09/25/2019: AOS interview in Orlando -- approval and green card!

Next step, June 2019: Filing I-751

Note: My wife is a Singaporean.  She moved to Australia before we met and got permanent residency there.

Here is a quick FAQ on using assets to qualify under the K-1 income value when presenting the I-134 at your interview.

Q: How Can I Use Assets to Qualify?

A: Assets may supplement income if the immigration officer is convinced that the monetary value of the asset could reasonably be made available to support the fiancé visa applicant and converted to cash within one year without undue harm to the sponsor or his or her family members.  You may not include an automobile unless you show that you own at least one working automobile that you have not included.

Q: What assets can be used?

A: Any type of asset can be used if it is readily convertible to cash within a year. Liquid assets, such as savings deposits, stocks, bonds, and certificates of deposit will be viewed most favorably because they would be most accessible for the support of sponsored immigrants. Other assets, such as property, may also be acceptable if they can be sold within a year.

Q: What evidence of assets is required?

A: Evidence establishing ownership and the value and location of assets is required. Information on any liens and/or liabilities relating to these assets must be provided. For bank accounts, bank statements for the most recent 12 months, or a letter from the bank stating the date the account was opened, a history of deposits and withdrawals for the past 12 months.

@IandM1123 and @Tokenfreak

I just want advise the two of you to use the links that I gave you and it tells you everything you need, what forms to use, where to go and what does the end result look like. From your questions, I believe you have not used the information that I gave you. Think about this. Here are two guys/girls here in this thread asking each other, who are just about at the same steps in getting their visas, whether they need this or that when I had recommended that they ask there questions over in the sub-forum for the Philippines where there are many experts to help answer your questions. :bonk: I have problems computing that. Even if the two of you went together and asked questions together you would at least have the correct answer quicker and it would not hinder your progress.  I am sure you don't want to make a mistake setting you back 2-4 weeks.

Case in point. Your question about the medical exam and needing a Birth Certificate. Over on Hank's site he has listed only the documents that are needed and the BC is not one of them. He lists the documents for the other process also; the interview, CFO, medical etc.

I'm just trying to point you in the right direction and help you to avoid any RFE's so that you get the visa with relative ease. But, you do have a choice, you can do your way or you can get on board with the information I supplied to you and make you journey that much easier. Of course their is a third option, ignoring me. :jest:

My Fiance got his cenomar last month, and he just made an appointment for next week for his NBI Clearance :) noa2 Aug 8

Does she know exactly what to get. NBI certificate can be tricky and if you get the wrong one or it states suspected information that would lead the CO at the time of the interview to issue a RFE? This is information that is contained in the links I provided. I'll give it to you here.

If her form says something like NO RECORD ON FILE or NO DEROGATORY RECORD then she has nothing to worry about.

NBI CLEARANCE. This is now a multipurpose clearance. Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (purpose: for travel abroad) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name and any aliases or nicknames used, including different spellings you have used of those names. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of "No criminal record" or "No pending case". The letter of explanation must be requested from USEM. Normally after the interview. Also, If the NBI clearance reads NO CRIMINAL RECORD and NO CASE PENDING means she is in the NBI's database for a possible past offense or for someone else who has a similar name. You'll receive a 221(g) at conclusion of the interview to return to NBI with the 221(g) to clear the issue(s) and once cleared NBI will return the 221(g) with the outcome. Expect this to take an additional 2-3 weeks processing time between NBI and USEM before your visa is approved.

The NBI clearance is valid for one (1) year from the date it was issued but the USEM Consulate requires it to be no older than 6 months at the time of the interview. Return and get a new clearance if it is older than 6 months. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

For those of us that will be doing the interview in Manila, Philippines.  Is now a good time to be getting the CENOMAR and the NBI police clearance while we are waiting on the NVC MNL case #?

Yes you can gather some of your documents. But be careful, as the NBI and CENOMAR is time sensitive. Do you know the time limits on those documents that USEM requires without getting an RFE?

My NOA2 was July 30, i have been calling all week and nothing yet. I will call monday, tuesday and wednesday of next week and if i get my case number next week my packet might be sent out on the 21 of August to the Embassy!! i am super excited. Any one else with a july 30 or 31 NOA2?

It takes a week or two to get from USCIS to NVC and then another 10 business days to get your case number. It's too early to be calling now. Knowing your Embassy would avail me to locate some information that would be pertinent to your case.

So, many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question.

Ok thanks.  So right now I am just waiting for the NVC case number and then we can start filling out the DS-160 online right?

The DS - 160 is a document that stands alone. It does not affect anything. It does not need to be finished to do anything else but needs to be completed for the interview and it can be completed between now and the day before your interview. You can't use it to find any information about your case. You can't use if for anything other than for its original intent and that is for the CO to use during your interview to adjudicate your case.

So, you can fill it out now, wait for your case number, wait till you finish scheduling the interview or wait till you complete your medical. There is nothing that says when it is a good time to fill out the DS-160 but to have it completed by the day before the interview.

Here is the information that I have put out their for those processing through the Philippines and this is links to the P3 and Hank's website for all thing to consider.

Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get down. To smooth that trail for your I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps he includes the what, when and why to completing the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Next you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Since most in this thread are processing through another country they would be hard pressed to explain what is needed for the Philippines.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

You'll find this on Hank's website but I will give it to you early and that is the Packet 3 Letter for USEM. It's found here:

https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

Here is the Packet 3 letter.

There you have it. Everything you need to get your visa. Good luck and smooth sailing.

@IandM1123 and @Tokenfreak

:jest:

Yes thank you! I actually saw this Hank’s site long time ago already, I bookmarked this while waiting for my NOA2 :) of course I always read all your response here, all the useful information. thanks @Greenbaum

Yes he does, and thats the reason why we waited until we get our NOA2 before getting the nbi clearance. And yes they only issue the multipurpose now, there’s no other option. My sis-in-law came here to the US 2 years ago on a K1 visa, so I sometimes ask her too. Thank you so much for these  @Greenbaum 👍🏻🙏🏻

Yes you can gather some of your documents. But be careful, as the NBI and CENOMAR is time sensitive. Do you know the time limits on those documents that USEM requires without getting an RFE?

Thanks for all the information your posted I really appreciated it.  I will make sure to post future questions I may have in the Philippines forum and read over hanks site if I need help.  I did briefly look and I can't seem to find the time frame for the CENOMAR.  I see you said the NBI is no later then 6 months, but do you know what the CENOMAR is by chance?  Thanks.
