I'm not sure if somebody will have the answer but: I was filling in the DS-160 form and they asked me for a passport photo.

Will it be a problem if it is a different passport photo than the one I have sent with the I-129F or the one I will bring to the medical exam?

they usually ask for a passport photo that is not older than 6 months. Since the k-1 process usually runs 7 months now or even more....best if you have new ones done. To answer you questions, IMO it wont be a problem.

Hi Augustines 2018:

Here are a few things to remember, before you get ready for your interview and do POE. Actually after POE to be clear.

a) get all your police certificates ready (any country you lived in after 16 y.o for more than 1 year) Six months. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry/diversity-visa-if-you-are-selected/diversity-visa-prepare-supporting-documents.html

b) vaccinate with all required vaccines in your home country for immigration to the USA and do this because it will be required for AOS. In most cases it is also much cheaper. Aside, I have seen cases for AOS ready in about 2 months in some parts of the States. I'm confused about the meaning of this. Each US state has no influence on how long it takes to submit for AOS. USCIS and the local Field Office influence the adjudication time.

c) get all of your schooling records (high school, technical school, college, university and other tertiary schooling) translated and certified.

d) birthcertificate multiple copies (3) with translations. Don't do them yourself. Spend a penny or two on a good translation

e) Get SS# first, before anything after POE is over. It can take anywhere from 1 week to 8 weeks.

f) Get married after applying for SS# and do AOS as soon as possible. The lines are long and the wait is unreal. There are no lines for AOS. You submit them by way of mail. Confusing. Now the wait for your AOS case to be adjudicated can be long. Ours what 14 months when it should have only taken 6 months and that's without a field office interview. So your mileage can vary.

 g) Good luck and k-1 was a joke compared to AOS.....average wait in Montgomery, AL Field Office was 1 year and more to have an interview The processing time can vary based on USCIS workload and the availability for interviews in your area. Some times they will not require and interview and just send you your GC.

Be careful with your answers. People are trusting your level of knowledge along with your willingness to help. I like to use links to the authority when available. There are a lot of "doubting Thomas's" out there so they like to read it in black and white.

Check once a month if you really want the service. They are updating and bringing online more areas all the time. Maybe your zip code will come online to where you can register for the service. :)

b) in the june 2018 AOS thread 3 people have already either had an interview or have a date for an interview.  States refering to the USA, not one specific

f) the lines are long..... yes, you do not stand and wait physically. You do however send in the paperwork and wait for a long time to get an answer if they are going to go forward and give you or deny your application for AOS

g) i have yet to hear someone in 2018 that has not had an interview and bam bam thank you here is your GC.

Usually beneficiary don't need to update their mailing address. In our case...we had an email send to petitioner and beneficiary from NVC and the embassy.  The beneficiary can provide their address in the DS-160 when it comes to this. Hope this helps

Do you know if the beneficiary is ever sent anything by mail?

Other than the passport after completing the interview?

Here are three ways to stay in touch with the process for your visa as it winds its way through USCIS and NVC and eventually your Embassy. Now I am giving you three and maybe you'll only use one but remember there are others reading my answer and maybe they as well had the same question. Now these will be "home" address and email address's. Both are important.

Once your case arrives at NVC: It's advisable to contact NVC via https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html to update your email address as well as your beneficiary's email address or,

After getting notified and receiving your NOA2 send an email to NVC asking for them to email both you and your fiancé if any updates occur. In the past they have replied when your case was received from USCIS, another when your case number has been assigned and when your case is being sent out to your Embassy without you having to make any further queries by phone. Here is where you send this information to:

Email address: NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

Subject: Your receipt #

Body: Petitioner's Complete Name Birthday ; Beneficiary's Complete Name Birthday

Or use the online form

https://secureforms.travel.state.gov/ask-nvc.php

https://secureforms.travel.state.gov/ask-nvc.php

And here for a address change: https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange

Hope this helps.

Hi @Greenbaum

Does the beneficiary ever receive anything by snail mail?

I will put my updated address on my DS160 but was just wondering if I need to contact anyone about updating it as my old address is in the I-129F

Someone just asked the question about two pages ago, but in a different way/circumstance and these were my reply's.  Simply ignore that information as it doesn't apply to the K-1 visa but only to the CR-1.

Thank you! and sorry guys for asking same question someone asked 2 pages ago. I try to follow each of the post here, but it's easy to miss sth though.

Hi Guys,

I am super confused about NVC stage.

I have received NVC case number. Yet, we're still waiting for hard copy. In the hard copy we are about to receive checklist - should it be signed by Petitioner or Beneficiary?

I know that there will be detailed instruction in the package and most of them depend on Embassy that is processing our case, but I just wanted to ask about it as it seems to be pretty generic requirement.

Also, do we need to submit some documents to the NVC before our interview?

Thanks in advance,

Kamila

Do you think that if you add a photo DS 160 that was sent in the beginning of the process for receipt NOA 2, then this can be a denial of a visa?

Even if the person has not changed at all?

Also, do we need to submit some documents to the NVC before our interview? Once you have your case number you are now in charge and you will no longer deal with NVC in any fashion.

Thanks in advance,

Here are some links to follow for additional instructions for Poland

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/pl/pl-niv-visatypeinfo.asp

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/pl/pl-niv-appointmentschedule.asp

Here is some information from another person who is going through the same process you will with some tips.

1. Case number from NVC is needed for medical examination along with address in US, where she is going to live. Your fiancée will need to know them.

2. Police certificate can be obtained without case number. It is valid 1 year.

So she can obtain it in advance.

3. To get results of medical examination it can take 7-14 days, especially in Summer. Medical costs $190 - adult, $140 - child under 14 years.

Police certificate: costs 12,25 bel.rubles- within 7-15 days, or 24,5 bel.rubles - within 3 days.

4. The birth certificate needs to be just translated.

5. USC does not need to feel out something. Just use your passport to enter the US embassy. Though, it doesn't guarantee that you will be allowed to attend the interview with your fiancée when she will be asked. It depends on person who will interview her.

I don't have the P3 from Poland but if you get a copy and would like to share it with it would be appreciated. I will use it to help others that come behind you when they are near this stage. Just Personal Message me here on VJ. Thanks.
