The answer is Embassy specific. Some allow others make you wait and jump through some hoops to get their permission to schedule. I can't speak for your Embassy because I can't tell without you completing your profile.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

thanks, just added my timeline.

Hey, so after I receive my case# , how long it takes until the interview? I'm assuming sometimes it depends which Embassy, mine will be in Czech Republic. Thank you.

I don't have a Packet 3 from your Embassy but I did find enough information for you to begin getting ready for your interview.  If and when you get your P3 letter can you scan a copy and email to me here on VJ using the PM function. I use it to help others who come behind you need help with "what's next" question. Thanks.

How do you get this info? did you receive already the NVC letter?

First, don't begin calling for 10 business days after you get your text message (NOA2). Second, you will need the Petitioner's and Beneficiaries full name and date of birth.

Call 603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888 Be prepared for a wait. Tell the operator that you are requesting a case number for your K-1. They will ask for the receipt number located on the left top of your I-797 (NOA2) form. Then he/she will either tell you that they have not received your case or you will be asked for the names and date of birth. If they don't have the case, you will be told it can take 30 to 45 days for them to receive it and to wait however many days/weeks and call back. That's a pad answer so ignore it. You can call back the next day or as often as you want. NVC's hours are 7am to 12 am (midnight) eastern time. Monday through Friday except Federal Holidays. Calling early at 7 am on the dot will get you in the fastest or calling late the lines to be open most often.

When you have your case number, enter it here https://ceac.state.g...ker/status.aspx and it will tell you one of three things... At NVC, In Transit, or Ready.

Thanks for completing your information.

Here is the letter that you will receive from Mumbai Embassy. Read it over carefully and follow the instructions. Another member of VJ added some additional information contained below which outlines what he experienced.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xukUjdqnKM7yqrkqfPfl8tCao_BY2XsC/view?usp=sharing
https://photos.state.gov/libraries/mumbai/1057584/senkx/BMB%20IV%20Packet%204%20for%20Ks%20January%202015%20Revision_001.pdf

Once you received your case number from NVC,  I would recommend you fill out DS-160 form and submit. Some say the packet 3 letter is nothing just waste of time same thing they have mention which you easily get from USCIS website when you called to the clinics to book your medical appointment date they will ask you have you received your packet letter or not. Just say yes and booked the appointment date however you will receive that letter within 2 weeks the day you will get your NVC number.

Go on USCIS website make your account with password and then pay your fees to Citibank or Axis bank. They will give you reference number. With that number you can book your biometric and interview appointment date. The fees are 18,500 and for medical but I recommend that you carry 20,000 with you in the event you need more. Be sure to  keep at least 7 days gap between medical and interview.

An unrelated post has been split from this thread, moved to the "Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America" forum, and given the topic title "What's Needed for IR-5 Interview/NVC?  [split topic]."

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi, we got our NVC case number at April 15. So far its been 6 days of waiting.

Is this chart correct?

image.png.ad13f20dfcf044eb4fd8f4184e735aea.png

I taught its just a short process there? Why is this chart is at 15 days right now?

Knowing this average i rather wait to schedule my medical and the interview until the case is ready.

Am i correct?

Thank you for your answers!

You should be able to schedule your medical exam while you’re waiting. You need the new case number to do that. Apparently the wait for a medical exam is about a month so that’s what I plan to do when I get my case number so it speeds things up once it gets to the embassy.

If you manage to get a medical sooner than a month ahead of time please let me know as that’ll make me really happy! 😄 I asked someone a month or so ago who had just had their medical, and the wait at the time was about 1 month for the medical and 2 weeks for an interview. Interesting to find out if that’s still the case or not.

Does it need to say 'In Transit' on CEAC for us to schedule the medical exam or do we only need the LDN case number? Also don't have the police certificate yet but should have it within a couple weeks. I feel like this stage of the process is more confusing than the hellish I-129F, difficult to figure out what we need before we move to the next phase.. 😓

I don’t know for definite since I haven’t actually called them myself yet, but that’s just based on what I’ve read in these forums.

You need the LDN number to book the medical but I don’t know if it matters what status it is on CEAC. Someone else might have to clarify that. I would have thought it would be at the London embassy or close to being there by the time you actually go in for your medical though so I would assume it would be okay.

You do need your police certificate for the medical I believe. Mine took about a month to come in the end. Apparently the 10 day processing time starts when someone starts processing your case, not from the date you submitted the application. So my app didn’t get looked at for a week or so, then they asked me for another copy of something and took them another 5 ish days for them to acknowledge that they had received it, and then continued the processing.

There are experts over in the sub -forum for your country located here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/ where others from your country are processing or they are there after they have finished with everything and can guide you on their experience. A TON of information and help there.

First of all, if you haven’t already done so, make sure you complete your DS-160 and request your police certificate.  Now that you have your case number, you can call Knightsbridge to schedule your medical exam.  You’ll need to give them your case number when you schedule your appointment.  Once you have your exam scheduled, DS-160 completed and have everything else that you need for your interview, complete the Notification of Applicant Readiness Form and when your NVC case status changes to “In-transit” you can go to https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv to create an account and schedule an interview.  Make sure that you allow at least 5 working days between the date of your medical exam and the date of your interview or risk the results from the exam not arriving in time.  For your interview go here https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv/  or call here 442074867822
