SLEC wants the Interview letter from the National Visa Center (NVC) or Visa Interview Appointment Confirmation from the Embassy (just print off a screen shot of the confirmation page once your appointment has been secured) either or.

  • Principal Applicant - original & 1 photocopy
  • Derivatives - 1 photocopy each

If Interview letter or Visa Interview Confirmation was received via email, print 2 copies for the principal applicant and 1 copy for each derivative. The letter form NVC will eventually get to you but you do not need it to complete anything in the Philippines.

Here are the requirements from the St. Luke's website.  It's asking for both Interview Confirmation and Letter with Case Number (d & e).  I'm just looking for what will satisfy the requirement for the Confirmation Letter with Case Number.

  1. K VISA APPLICANTS
  2. EACH APPLICANT MUST PRESENT THE FOLLOWING:

    1. Valid passport
    2. 1 photocopy of Passport Biographic/Data Page, the page in the passport that contains the applicant's photo and information. Photocopy on short bond paper. Passport photocopy should be the same size as the original, not enlarged or reduced.
    3. 4 pieces recent 2"x2" visa photos (see visa photo guide), 3 for submission to the U.S. Embassy, 1 for clinic file. ALL PHOTOS MUST BE IDENTICAL. Write the applicant's complete name at the back of each photo.

The US Embassy requires you to bring the 2x2 photos for your visa issuance. We regret not to release the medical report until such time that you can provide this requirement.
    4. Letter with Case Number

      • Principal Applicant - original & 1 photocopy
      • Derivatives - 1 photocopy each

If Letter of Case Number was received via email, print 2 copies for the principal applicant and 1 copies for each derivative.

    5. Visa Interview Appointment Confirmation from the U.S. Embassy , if available

      • Principal Applicant - original & 2 photocopies
      • Derivatives - 1 photocopy each
If Visa Interview Appointment Confirmation was received via email, print 2 copies for the principal applicant and 1 copies for each derivative.

    6. For applicants who registered online, 1 copy of the online registration confirmation form
    7. Applicants who did not register online are required to provide the name, address (include city, state, and zip code), contact number, and email address of their petitioner in the U.S.A.

Hi Scott, they can do the medical without the NVC letter. Your fiancee just need to sign a waiver. Just have her print out a screenshot of the case saying "At NVC"

Well, I guess you have two choices here; first you can see if my many years of experience is worth it's weight in gold or you can sit on your hands and make this process drag out for 2-3 months. Mmmmmm what will you do?

Hey everyone.

I have a question about when to book my flights.

I know it says not to book the flights until you get your passport back with the visa in, but why is that?

I'm just a little concerned as I also am flying my cat over and they need 3 weeks to get him onto a flight, and obviously I want to fly ASAP.

Is it worth the risk booking us on a flight together or should I REALLY wait till I have my passport back?

I have the visa stamp can take from 2-10 days and then you pick it up and if they made a mistake you are suppose to have it fixed before you travel.

Although it's probably less likely in London than at some consulates, it's not at all unheard of for a K-1 to be in administrative processing for a non-trivial amount of time after the interview, or for there to be delays getting your passport back to you, or for there to be errors on your visa. So getting tickets before you have your visa in hand involves a certain amount of risk.

IMHO if you can get flight insurance that will cover you for anything that involves the cat or your visa then buy the insurance and go for it. BUT if you can't then it's all on your head what happens. I wouldn't do it as I have seen what can happen and it ain't pretty.

I can get insurance for both of us, and I was planning to book the flight about a month after the visa interview, but I am a little concerned incase anything goes wrong. Just by going with your last sentence I think I might just wait now. I can't imagine it being too long to get my passport back from London (crosses fingers).

Thank you :)

You could ask over in the sub-forum for the UK found here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/  where there are others who can better answer "how long it will take" questions.

Does anyone know about the visa appointments? I scheduled mine for a date because it was the only one available. I was told that they open on a monthly basis so I was hoping that the month of November would open up. I log into traveldocs to see if I can change the date and there has been one or two available in this month. Yesterday there were no more appointments and now there isn't even a choice to change appointments. I would assume there is just no more available.

Any comments on this?......

That's correct. You should check a couple of times a day for cancellations. When you see one then grab it.

Great question as I booked a flight for my fiancee AFTER she received the visa IN HAND. So NEVER EVER book a flight until the visa has arrived and the information is correct. Reason being NOT to book a flight is... 1. your Visa may be delayed or worse rejected from the embassy and 2. There may be an error in the spelling of the names or dates on the visa once received so in some cases you'll have to send it back to the embassy from where it was issued to correct the info on the visa . You never want to book a flight if there is an error on the visa because it could take up to a month to send it to the embassy and for them to fix the  error on your visa. Better to safe than sorry. Or worse yet you book a flight and the immigration will not allow you to board because the visa and ID do not match. You can however get a flight itinerary for the proposed travel dates in advance and then book the flight once your visa is good to go Hope that explains to never book a flight till you have it and the info is correct.:dancing:
