Hey guys! My case status changed to "ready" last Friday, on the 7th. There's no packet 3/4 for Ukraine - we bring all the docs directly to the interview. I went ahead and scheduled my interview for Tuesday 11th since I have all the docs ready, medical is done and the fees are paid. Now I just learned that even though the case is in the embassy and CEAC says ready, unless they've sent some confirmation email to me or/and my fiance, I will not be able to attend my interview and they might send me home.

Anybody had a similar experience?

Thanks very much for all your help, Greenbaum. I heard that before too, but I was informed that the Colombian embassy accepts joint sponsors. And considering my past tax returns don't show that I have had much income (I was a student and lived in Colombia for a year...hence the lower income) I feel that it is much better to have a joint sponsor as back up.

I also found out that I actually earned less this past year at my part-time job (which I started last October). It was more like $24,000. It's still over the required amount, but much lower than I realized. Do you really think a second job would help much at this stage? I'm not really sure. This part of the process is definitely what concerns me most. I would hate to get so far only to be rejected on this basis.

Thanks so much.

Embassy's care more of what you will make then what you have made. If you can't show you will "make" then it's time to get a co-sponsor. Being a student is a positive item and shows that you are educated that your future earning power can be greater then a non-student. Working now and making more than the poverty lever is all they're looking for.

At this point you have the information needed to make a decision whether you will go it alone or you will use a co-sponsor. Good Luck.

Also, where it asks if one has ever contributed or worked for a charitable organization, does consistently volunteering for the Toronto humane society count, or does it only ask for donations and work?

If you want to add that you did volunteering work for the humane society, I see no harm in adding it to the I-134. But don't forget those, if any, that you either contributed to or worked for.

I want to check all the questions and answers again

I think that will be best answer to write because he does have to provide you with money if you want to live.. in the sense of food and such.. I'm sure if you write about going for K1 visa it'll make sense to them.

Hi everyone, my fiance's got some questions on filling out the ds160.  on the DS160 it asks if you've ever been sponsored for an immigration visa before. My understanding is because the i129f is a non immigrant petitioon, the correct answer to this is no. Correct?

And follow-up, where it asks for a us contact, my fiance will fill in me and choose "us petitioner"?

I answered a lot of the troublesome questions, which are the ones and some more, that you are asking. See my post here at tab 5:

Tomará un mínimo de 10 días hábiles (14 días calendario) pero todo depende de cuándo se envió su petición al USCIS y usted no tiene control sobre eso. El mío tardó 22 días naturales en llegar a NVC y 23 días antes de que obtuviera el número de caso. Creo que el mío fue un poco más lento que el resto.

We still have no answers and in our NoA2 we are warned that by December our application expires. And because of all that needs to be done I worry about the time delay in giving the case number. Maybe someone could tell me that requirements ask for NVC to give an appointment to the embassy?

You should have your case number any day now but you still have plenty of time.   Even if your case gets to the embassy and appointments aren't available prior to December you can call the embassy and they will extend out your expiration date.   IF you want you can call USCIS and ask them when they sent your information to the NVC.  But unfortunately there isn't a whole lot you can do until you hit the 6 week mark as they will tell you its within their normal turnaround time to assign it a case number.

They prefer that your case be interviewed within that four month "window".

But, the NOA 2 can be extended up to a year by your Embassy but with good reason and the Embassy doesn't need to extend the NOA2 for the "one" year from expiration. The new extension, if approved, will be for an additional 4 months. Extensions are in the form of 4 month extension with each approval till you reach one year. If you need to go beyond a year then you must go to the end of the line and begin the process from 129f over again and pay the fees. You must provide a reason for the NOA 2 extension when requesting the extension from your Embassy.

Here is what is next after you get the case number from NVC.

A list will populate with those who are processing close to your timeline. When they start to change you will soon be behind them. Also, there is another place you can go and follow others who are processing the same time you are and for the same Embassy. Go to the blue ribbon at the top of this page and select "portals". Scroll down the left-hand side of the page till you get to VJ "your country's name" Timelines. Just below it you'll see "K-1" so you select it and out pops a window with others from your country.

I'm doing the final review tonight for the package that I'll send my fiancee for her interview.  I've been working on this stuff for about a month.  Since my income last year was between 100-125% FPL, I'm still self-employed, and my co-sponsor only wants to be a co-sponsor as a last resort, I have to go the asset route.

The problem is, due to some bills and a big wedding-related expense, two of my bank accounts fluctuated by over $3,000 (total) over several days while I was filling out the I-134 and collecting its evidence.  The balance values in my bank letter, bank statements, my I-134, and my letter explaining what's in the I-134 evidence are all different since they were all captured at different points in the month.  The accounts' combined value is over 500% FPL.  The bank statements do include daily balances.

Do I need to redo my I-134 form and I-134 intro letter now so that the numbers can all agree?  If I reran the numbers now, it wouldn't be in my favor.  (I effectively took an unpaid sabbatical this summer to see my fiancee and won't pay myself again until the end of this month - possibly after her interview.)

June 2016: We started writing to each other

June-July 2017: Met in person in the US for our first anniversary

December 2017 - January 2018: Met again in the US and got engaged

01/09/2018: I-129F sent to the USCIS Dallas Lockbox via FedEx

01/16/2018: Received NOA1 (NOA1 notice date: 01/11/2018)

June-July 2018: Met in person in Singapore and Australia for our second anniversary

08/03/2018: Notice date on our NOA2 (updated in USCIS's new website on August 6)

08/15/2018: Our case reached NVC

08/22/2018: Received NVC case number

09/04/2018: Our package left NVC (arrived 9/11, and she sent packet 3 that day)

09/20/2018: Received packet 4; scheduled interview

10/30/2018: Interview - told that we're approved!  Now waiting to receive the visa...
11/27/2018: Port of Entry at BWI

12/1/2018: Our wedding!

12/8/2018: Filed AoS on the way to our honeymoon (12/8-15/2018)
6/~7/2019: EAD and AP approved
09/25/2019: AOS interview in Orlando -- approval and green card!

Next step, June 2019: Filing I-751

Note: My wife is a Singaporean.  She moved to Australia before we met and got permanent residency there.
