My Australian wife has been selected for further processing for the DV2019 program.

We've applied for the relevant background checks etc but haven't yet submitted the DS-260 which is almost complete. She was just waiting on confirmation of details for ex-boss to update her employment history which she now has.

Unfortunately the site is now down so we're unable to progress the application in order to set up the interview and get onto medicals.

Is there a way to ascertain if there are still visas available for Australian citizens given that we're now a couple of months plus into the window of opportunity to lodge?

Thanks for reading

The fiscal year hasn’t even started yet, so yes there are visas still available...all of them in fact! Your case number determines when you will interview (and therefore what your place in line is with regard to visas potentially running out), not when you submit the DS260.  If they do start running out it won’t be till late in the fiscal year (ie this time or later next year), because they stagger interviews over the course of the year.

by the way, what do you mean by you’ve applied for the relevant background check? They do the background checks. You apply for civil documents. If you mean the police record, bear in mind these have expiry dates - especially for the country you’re currently resident in, it’s best not to get them before you get your interview notification or they may expire and you’d have to redo them.

Thanks for the information. Very useful.

Yes - background checks = police checks. We've had to apply for a couple of countries outside of Australia and they should be good for duration. The AFP check in Australia is a quick turnaround so we can hold out on that until closer to the interview.

A little concerned the website's been down for a while.

Regarding case number - is that the 2019OC reference number given in the letter confirming the applicant has been selected for further processing (ours is around 550)?

So now the site’s back up we’ve updated the last of the information and we hit a roadblock on the final page digitally signing the application- the case reference isn’t recognised despite it being ok to login to the site.

Appreciate any guidance
