I am U.S resident for whole Year 2017 . I filed tax returns for 2017  with married filing jointly status with election 6013 G  for  my spouse as U.S Resident for Tax Year 2017 .  My Returns got approved for Tax Year 2017.

a) Can I amend my Tax returns for Year 2016  status with married filing jointly status as my spouse was non resident for whole year  in 2016 as well for the whole year as I mistakenly filed as 'Single'.

b) if so,  Do I need to file election 6013 G for tax year 2016  again while amending returns for 2016

thanks
