Hello everyone!

I have been looking at the list of the required documents for the interview and

I noticed that for a birth certificate and a police certificate they ask for " original and English translation, if required"

So I am confused, is English translation required or not? Does any of you know this for sure?

Thank you in advance!

My wife (fiancée then) had her K-1 interview in Moscow. She did not have any of her documents translated. I would have gladly translated for her because I am bilingual myself (I am Russian but I was born and raised in the United States). There was no need to, though, because her supporting documents were in Russian. I am more than positive that an English translation is required only for documents that are not in English or Russian. Russia has many ethnic groups and sometimes, for example, documents are written in those languages. If a document is in Tatar, for example, you would need to have it translated. This would usually happen to those who were born in the Soviet Union era because documents would be in languages other than Russian.

The instructions from the embassy website state:

"Translations: all documents not written in English or Russian must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate."

Like I said, if the beneficiary is from an ethnic minority group who so happens to have a document written in their native tongue and not in Russian, then yes - they would need to have their document translated. If the beneficiary is simply an ethnic Russian, then their documents would be in Russian and so, no translation would be required.

I hope I didn't confuse you.

Also, the website states:

"In addition, U.S. Embassy Moscow requires that all court/prison records (including those written in Russian) be translated into English."

I am not sure if that applies to your case but, I thought it might still be helpful for you to know.

Hey guys, I just read on the Moscow  embassy website in the list of required documents for the interview that I need to bring financial documents from US petitioner ( copy of W-2 and 1040, and also form I-134, bank statements and employment letter)

Does any of you could tell me if form I-134, bank statements and employment letter could be copies as well? or my fiancé has to send me original documents ?

Thank you in advance for your help!

My fiancee was approved Tuesday. I sent the I-134, a letter from my employer and my tax transcripts (printed from the IRS website) for the past 3 years. The I-134 needs to be an original because it's an official form that requires a signature, like the I-129f. My employment letter did not have a signature, but it did have contact information for the HR department in case of any questions. I mailed all of these documents to her though I could have e-mailed the transcripts and employment letter to her for printing.

Super!  You two must feel great!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Congratulations!! My fiancée also was approved Tuesday but also got caught up in the sputum test scam. She won’t get her visa for another 8 weeks.

I just checked my case with the NVC number and this morning it changed from "in transit" to "ready". Does it mean I can pay the fee and fill out I-160 or do I have to wait to recieve something from the embacy? What should I do?

Thank you in advance for your help!:)
