Hello all

 

I was planning to move from Florida to California on Aug 31.

Yesterday, I received mail with interview date scheduled on Aug 27 from USCIS.

 

How do I make sure that any emails/letters/cards from USCIS gets to my new address in CA?

I have heard so many times mails and card getting lost or being delivered to the old address even after updating it.

File an AR-11 form online (for free) to update your new address within 10 days of your move.

I would also mention the impending move at your AOS interview to the IO and ensure they have the proper correct address going forward.

1.  File AR-11

2.  record the move with the US Postal Service.

That, along with the suggestion above, is about all you can do.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you guys for your prompt replies.

I have been reading about mail forwarding option from USPS.

I couldn't find it on USPS's website but people are saying USPS doesn't forward mail's from government services.

 

I will mention it during my AOS interview as suggested and update my address with both USCIS and USPS ( probably premium forwarding option).

My timeline:
USCIS received date: 6 Sep 2017

Biometric: 4 Oct 2017

Interview Date: 27 Aug 2017

Field Office: West Palm Beach, FL

 

1. I got interview notice from USCIS for my interview in Florida scheduled on 27 Aug 2018.  I am scheduled to move to California on 31 Aug permanently.

Anyone here knows how fast USCIS's address update work? I am planning to let my interviewer know about my move(hopefully he/she can update my address), update my address myself, and forward my mails from USPS.

I am particularly curious to know more about USPS's mail forwarding option.  Anyone here has experience in getting USCIS's mail forwarded to the new address?

 

2. My I 693-medical exam was signed by doctor on 23 aug 2017, received by USCIS on 6 sep 2017 ( as per NOA letter).

Will it be valid for my interview on 27 aug 2018?

1. I believe USPS doesn’t forward USCIS mails. Not sure how soon they update the new address.

 

2. Yes, the form is valid for one year from the uscis submission date.
