Hi All,

My query is related to the fact that what documents are required to be be submitted by my joint sponsor. My joint sponsor is my uncle (mother's brother) a US Citizen.

So far, he is filling his I-864 form. Also my wife has filled another I-864 form from her side as she is my sponsor but she has no income. Also my joint sponsor has shared with me his last 3 years IRS Income Tax returns (he has mentioned in the form 1040 as "married filing jointly" - as he is married). What additional documents are required from his side. What i believe from the NVC Checklist is that we need more documents as well which are mentioned below with some of my queries:

- Joint sponsor's proof of US status: - It means his US passport, i believe!

- Joint sponsor's proof of Domicile - No idea what document is required here? Either my uncle's birth certificate as he was born in Pakistan?

- Petitioner's Civil documents -  What documents are needed as my wife is my petitioner here?

- As my joint sponsor (my uncle) has submitted his tax returns mentioning as "married filing jointly" then do i need to have another I-864A from his spouse as well?

- Evidence of Income - Whose Evidence of income is required, Mine, wife's or my joint sponsor's and which document would cater to this requirement?

Form W-2 for each of of the income tax return? is it required from my joint sponsor?

- IRS Tax Return Transcript - Is it different from the normal Tax returns form 1040?

- Social Security Earning Statement - Is it not included in the Normal Income Tax returns? or separately required?

- Proof of assets -  Whose assets details are required here, My sponsor (Wife) or my joint sponsor and which documents/ forms would suffice this requirement ?

- Do NVC requires my wife's Police certificate as well as she is my sponsor and petitioner, I have already obtained my police certificate as i reside in Saudi Arabia for the last 6 years.

Thanks if anyone can clarify these queries.

If your uncle in living in the united states, no need to worry about it.

It’s only required if your wife has previous marriages, otherwise none required.

Eithet include (IRS tax transcript) or (1040 copy, W2 and all schedules). Your uncle’s tax return transcrops can be downloaded from IRS online.

No need to worry if you uncle doesn’t get SS income.

First of all thanks Arken for the detailed replies, i really appreciate it.

Secondly, as you have mentioned that my uncle's spouse has to fill I-864A. But if she is a house wife and doesn't earn, even then is she suppose to fill the form?

Yes , as they file MFJ,  it shows she is aware of and agrees with the decision to sponsor. Not always needed but avoids getting an RFE if the adjudicator decides it is needed
