Ex-husband needs to file I-865?

This may be a dumb question, but I filed for ROC with a divorce waiver and it was approved last year. My ex-husband and I started out the divorce on good terms, but it deteriorated after it was final and we haven't spoken in two years, after he was openly hostile to a document request from me.

 

Now the question is: to the best of my knowledge he has never filed an I-865, I don't think he even knows it's a requirement. But I'm assuming he had to, right?

Yes, he was supposed to file it. No, it's not anything you need to be concerned about...that's on him.

The I-865 is the sponsor's change of address and he should be concerned about that....not you.

Not really. It just makes it harder for the government to reach him if he had to repay for means-tested benefits you obtained.

Technically there is a civil fine USCIS could impose for not filing within 30 days of the move, but I have yet to hear of them ever trying to enforce this.
