Have you ever considered converting to Muslims?

You would be able to have multiply wives in Philippines

Nice man. Not mine idk.what this has to do with my situation can u pkease just not right now. I need legit information man. If this guys right about me not claiming them as dependants then they dont count that is the best news ever.

Simply don’t state your parents as your dependants in your affidavit form. Your tax return is showing that fact anyway.

Getting married in davao.. So i have to go to manila to.get this? Welp looks like it wont be happening in december. Thats rediculous. Makes mme jus want to do k1.

Why is that? You have to go through either Manila or Cebu anyway unless you fly in from Singapore.

I know I hate Manila too and try to spend as little time there as possible before heading down to Davao but it is a necessity.

Hi, it’s okay for marriage but not okay if the itention is just to do polygamy.

Maybe if you are a woman you will understand that.

Nothing to do with being a woman, theres plenty of woman that choose that lifestyle,  and nothing wrong with being a polygamist either as long as its all consensual and legal in that country.

Ummm no I disagree. I grew up with my father being a polygamist and oh the struggle with the other ‘moms’ that you will never understand. I dont know any polygamist ended up being happy families but seems you do more understand that I am 😪 okay.

For OP: K1 visa will charge you more money in the end. Maybe doing the CR1 will be the best choice.

@BoostFreak12     Whether your choose the K-1 or IR/CR-1 visa  you will NOT need a co-sponsor if your income meets or exceeds the requirement of the I-864P for TWO people.

K-1 is quicker  ... by many months.

IR/CR-1 is slightly cheaper.

Don't give up on spousal visa if you think this is a hassle. A K-1 visa is way more of a hassle after she gets here. More paperwork, more cost, more headaches.  Adjustment of status. Cannot work until you get EAD. Cannot leave country until she gets AP. Hassles getting social security card. Hassles getting health insurance. waiting a year for green card. Getting the Affidavit in Lieu of legal capacity is so much easier than the hassles of a K-1 after she arrives. Just my point of view that CR-1 is a better way and to point out if you don't like hassles, then with the K-1 there are more. CR-1 after she arrives boom green card in a few weeks, no hassles on social security card. No hassles on health insurance, and able to work as soon as entering..

OP,  if going to Manila to get required paperwork in order to get married there is too much hassle you are in for a real surprise.  Have you been to the Philippines before?  There are so many hoops to jump through that getting the affidavit is the easiest and quickest part of the entire deal.

The spousal visa, in my opinion is still much better than the K-1.  The CR-1 is quicker and cheaper but they all have their little twists and turns you have to do.

The US Embassy in the Philippines does can accept co-sponsors.  It is up to the CO.  In your case you don't need one.  It is about the size of the household that you support, not how many people live there.  Unless your parents are your dependents in your taxes you should not include them.  If you live with roommates they are also not included.  It is about who you are financially responsible for not who you live with.

There is a lot of bad information out there.  This site is as good as it gets.  We all have experience with the Philippines and Hank's site is amazing and gets updated as things change.

December is certainly doable.  We were able to take care of all the paperwork and seminar in two days.  I went back to the states and then came back two weeks later to get married.  You can certainly stay the 10 days but I was running out of vacation time.  The flight from Manila to Davao is a couple hours and very cheap.  I would make the appointment with the embassy and fly into Manila the day prior to the appointment.  You will spend a couple hours in the Embassy.  After that, go get your luggage and fly to Davao with the affidavit in hand.  You should be able to complete the paperwork that day or the next.  Then a 10 day wait and you are golden.  I suggest getting married at the Mayor's office instead of the Hall of Justice. The judges are harder to schedule and may cost a bit more too.
