Question regarding Translated Documents

A bit of context first. I'm an Indian national married to a USC. This is my second marriage; my first husband died in 2011. My USC husband filed for an IR1 in December 2017 and last week we got an RFE asking for the death certificate (previous marriage.) I do have one and it is in Gujarati (the local language) as well as English (single document, two languages.) My question is, do I need to get this document translated? If yes, can just anybody do it or do I need to get it done through a certified agency (apparently there are such things.) Also, does the document need to be accompanied by a statement/certificate signed by the translator? Your help is very much appreciated

It's already in English, so to what language would you translate it.  This is a required document that should have been submitted with the petition.  Just submit it now and now worries.

Thank you for your response. To my knowledge, the document WAS submitted along with the original petition. Not sure why they’re asking for it again but we’re not about to argue with them. I just wanted to be sure about the translation thing. Thanks again!

You might have to point out to them that the document is in both languages.

Like, attach a note pointing out the obvious in bold letters? Would it be a good idea to send a 'translation' (in English) anyway? If the latter, who would be considered a competent translator and would a translator's certificate be required? With a stamp? Sorry for asking so many questions but we don't want to take any chances.

No need to translate a document already in English.
