“COngratulations “

what is “Good moral character,”

i am confusing about This

I didn’t have a valid passport to obtain police clearance.

1. my pastor wrote an affidavit for good moral character stating that I’ve been an active member since 2012.

2. My neighbor also wrote an affidavit stating that I’m a peaceful neighbor and trustworthy.

3. In addition, I wrote my declaration of good moral character and SIGNED and placed in an envelope with GOOD MORAL CHARACTER written boldly. It was accepted. ☺️

Hi, Guys! My card was mailed today. Thank you to Sandra, and the members of this forum, who are always so eager to answer questions. I thank God for this day, as it’s like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I can now go and make concrete plans, unlike before. I will always be in the forum to help anyone who has questions, so, please feel free to ask. I will keep all those who have cases pending, in my prayers.

Just curious, why don’t you contact them yourself? You have the receipt notice for 5/14 right? Call USCIS. Are you sure your Attorney really “tried multiple times”?

He claims he did. I will reach out to them.  Is it the 1800-375-5283 number? And do I ask to talk to any officer or just anyone should be able to help me find the status? Thank you again!

Not to sound pessimistic or discourage you, but my VAWA was denied for the same reason in 2017 - did not satisfy the proof of joint residency requirement.

Ive not had the time to really explain or post my story, but some day I will. My mistakes- Loopholes everywhere, over-reliance on Attorney (heck, attorney is not God!), no feedback from their office whatsoever, simple stupid things were missed like tax transcripts, verbiage on affidavits, etc. All the attorney did was act as a middle-man to receive mails. Lol. I completed all forms and provided support documents with zero assistance from their office.

Long story short, DO YOUR BEST TO PROVIDE EVERYTHING AND MORE.

This is is my second rodeo and I’m doing wii myself with the help of members of this amazing forum. Every question I had is answered here. Honestly, the denial shocked everyone, but looking back, I could have been better prepared. I know there are lurkers or even members of this forum in my shoes, maybe they just read and not post, or are denied and discouraged. There’s always a way around these things. I’m more confident this time around.

The rental agreement that I sent to USCIS is not signed by me because at the time of the contract I did not have a social security number; The contract is signed by my ex-husband and by the administration of the apartment.
I sent some receipts together like Verizon, and electric power, auto insurance receipt, bank account, etc.
When you were denied your case, what evidence of joint cohabitation did you send?

Congratulation keeps us in prayer.

Please pray for me to get my GC without interview.

hello all, I need help. My I-485 was denied but I applied for VAWA and my notice of receipt date is 5/14/18. I have not heard anything since then. My attorney has tried multiple times calling Vermont and even sent an email but he has been unable to reach anyone. What do you advice I do. Thanks a lot

Did you get your receipt notice? If so then most likely you won't hear anything else for a very long time, maybe August 2019

Yes I did. My receipt date is 5/14/18. My main concern now is my work authorization. With regards to my case approval, I know that will be a while.

After waiting 9 months for my work authorization document, I decided to review the forms that were submitted to USCIS by my attorney in December 2017. I noticed that my social security number was incorrect on form I-765 even though it was correct on all other forms. I also noticed that she chose category c31 instead of category c09 on the form. My ex-husband is a USC and I am very frustrated right now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Please advice as to what can be done to fix this error???

To prove that you are a person of good moral character, you need to submit police clearance from all places you lived in for 6 or more months 3 years prior to filing I-360. You have to prove that you are a good person basically and not a criminal.

Hi iwillsurvive I need help about my divorce pls any advice will help Thanks

I have a clarification for this, does the police department cater to filers with no SSN yet or not yet legal to be exact? being a VAWA victim scares me to do anything with police.

Its technically not a error. You are able to file for EAD based on VAWA several ways. One is if your spouse is a USC and you file 485 you can also file EAD C09 and get it immediately (currently taking 5-7 months from when you submit it so its not that immediate!) Another way is checking the box on the 360 (c31) and the EAD will be issued after 360 approved. A third way is if you get deferred action- you can apply for an EAD based on that.

Speak to your attny. You should not submit any forms if you have an attny- they should do it. Many attnys will drop you if you go filing forms on your own. Explain to the attny that you need the EAD under c09 and have them file it. Its going to be a long wait. See if the attny can also request an expedite based on your financial situation and needing to work. Expedites are free to ask for so the worst that can happen is they dont expedite it. Since its not really an 'error' USCIS is not going to auto expedite you and the attny may insist its not an error and get defensive so dont mention error or mistake. Just say I saw on my forms the wrong social and that we filed under c31 for it to be issued after VAWA and I cant wait that long. We need to file under c9 blah blah.

@MJM2001 we moved out of that place two years  ago and the lease was signed by me and my ex husband, and the landlord did not sign it. The receptionist of that place is super rude and is the person I have to talk to to get a lease that was signed with the landlord as well but she had already said they do not keep those records for long, sounded not wanting to help me getting a signed lease by the landlord. I was hoping that may be there is another way round where I can formally ask and get the copy of the signed lease

Is the place far from you? Sometimes going in person gets better results then over the phone. There is no formal way to ask for a copy of the lease. They should provide one to you if you ask but if the lease is over they dont really have to go out of their way to give you a copy of it from their files since you should have one in your files. So if possible go there and ask in person nicely. If she doesnt want to go searching for it you can ask her if she can write you a very basic letter saying you guys were tenants there from X date to Y date and they have a copy of your signed lease on file. If she refuses to do that- then try to get a letter from her stating you guys were tenants there and you are asking for the lease and she is unable to provide it. I dont know. See if you can get anything and then review it and see if it would be useful.

You can show joint residence with NOTARIZED affidavits and mail addressed to both of you. You are going to want to write a statement about how the lease accidentally ended up unsigned and how you tried to get a copy and couldnt and what you have instead, but I hope you can get a copy.
