Has anyone used ‘Prima Facie’ to obtain SNAP/Food stamps? I’m in Texas and just got denied today because of my alien status. I tried to explain what the letter is for and the interviewer just wasn’t getting it. She kept asking for the expiry date on my I-94. I sent them a copy showing D/S and my receipt notice for I-485, but she wanted to see the approval/actual card.

sigh!

@Double it depends on the state that you are in. I'm in Florida and I was able to get Food Stamps with the Prima Facie.

HELLO my VJ family. I first joined in 2012 and started the VAWA application process then.

BIG THANKS to Sandra/ @sandranj for all the help.

First, I want to tell everyone..make sure you are safe before anything, speak up, don't be afraid to ask for help.

Second, Be Patient. I know the feeling of not having a status in the states / being in removal proceedings or not being able to work.

Third, DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE

I'm an example that there is hope. I had a DUI with two violations of probation when I applied.  I was in jail for over three months with an Immigration hold , having a bond of 100 dollars.

Went from Wakulla Immigration Facility to Jacksonville Immigration Facility to Broward Immigration Facility.

I was sure I was going to get  deported.

I applied for naturalization after 2 years 9 months of having my green card.

Now I'm a Citizen and I voted for the first time today.

Hi Czzr, l remember you, we were on this thread around the same time. I got my GC in 2015. It's time for me to file my citizenship but I'm kinda freaking out about this whole going on about medical assistance and food stamps. I used those for my daughter way back. I wonder if it will be an issue.

Dear all,

does anybody know? my local office is Fort Myers, and it is showing that their processing time for I-485 is 16-24 months. Does it really take that long? Can’t believe I will have to wait 2 more years after my 360 will get approved.

I would use 16 months as a reference. 24 months is typically when there are complications like background check is taking a long time or there is an RFE

I also made infopass to ask the approval notice after a month i have got ead, the local officer said they will send my inquire to Vermont. After that no update until yesterday there was.

Pls write the letter to ask Vermont your notice with your original signature along copy of your ead, vawa receipt. They will answer by mail to you soon. We cannot send inquire to USCIS by online or referal.

Hope the good news will coming soon with you.
