Hello Folks,

I also have a "finances" question. I am a grad student and will also have to have a co-sponsor (my Mother).

My question is this - My fiance is probably going to have her interview at the embassy this summer. What, if any information can I/should I provide her with regarding my co-sponsor. A letter or statement of sorts declaring this co-sponsor? Any financial records etc.?

I'm going to Norway to visit her in two weeks, and thought I should inquire before then (in case I should bring some documents with me - etc.)

I've been told that the Norwegian embassy is pretty lenient, but I want to cover all bases in case

Any thoughts?

Thanks much!

I am very aware of the search tool, thank you. I have, however, been unable to find an answer to my rather specific question.

Is this not what these forums are for?

Thanks much,

Max

For devilette its about the need to not spoon-feed users (and to use the :guides: icon)

But seriously - You're not going to need a letter to introduce your co-sponsor.

You'll need to complete the I-134 for yourself (even if you might not meet the income requirements) and your co-sponsor (your mom) will too (which will need to be notarized)

Which supporting documents you (and your mom) will need depends on how they complete the form (i.e., self employed, working, independently wealthy ;) etc). But typically (and only typically) it means tax returns (IRS transcripts are MUCH better since using them means you don't need to include W-2s, etc.) - possibly a bank statement, and possibly pay-stubs.

Hope that helps...

Max in Milwaukee,

See DoS form DS-2000 or OF-167 (the previous designation for DS-2000) - evidence that can be presented to meet the public charge provisions of the law.
