 Hi

was approved for my K1 visa and collected my passport and the visa packet today. Inside, was the large white envelope, my passport and an affidavit of support that belongs to someone else!!!

I just bought my flight today and now I'm freaking out that the inside of my visa packet is for the wrong person?

Has anyone been able to contact the embassy regarding a mistake like this via a method faster than email??

Thanks

It was outside of the envelope with my passport.

My own affidavit was returned to me at interview.

You would have to go back to London to have the packet opened, checked, and resealed. Or you could trust that yours is ok and have DX pick up the stray piece and return to London. Since they package, it seems partly their error for putting in an extra piece that's not normally in the outer wrapper.

It has happened once that I remember, a guy got to POE and had the entire packet for another man by the same name, also in London, who had not had his interview yet. The CBP let the guy in while it got sorted. They wouldn't give POE guy any information about packet but he noticed the name while they shuffled  papers. It had to be sorted by CBP and London, but the two guys found each other on VJ.

I live in london so that's not a problem if they can check it quickly, do you know the best number to call?

The back of my envelope is signed with my seal and my name is above it as well as my passport and police certificate being correct. So I think the affivadivit was added in error. Is it usual/correct that they handed mine back to me at interview?

thanks

DX does the outer wrapper using the address you arranged with them. Embassy seals white envelope.

The Immigrant Visa Unit does not talk on the phone. Try any number you can find and act irate that another person's confidential financial details were sent to you and you want to speak to the IV UNIT immediately. See if that gets you anywhere. If you want yours checked, the embassy typically has DX pick up and bring back to you after they have resealed. Could be late next week. But if you manage to bluff your way to an IV  person on the phone then insist you need to bring in person and have your envelope checked while you wait.

Don't meekly say what should I do ? Tell them what you want...  come in person.
