i don't know what is wrong with NVC. My case number was assigned August 15 and my packet was not mailed out on the 21st batch. i called NVC and they said that i just needed to wait and blablabla :( i wonder why some cases that were received after were already mailed but not mine. what is the longest that is has taken for a packet to be mailed out? Does anyone know?

Hi there!

That is normal, unfortunately. Some lucky people get their stuff mailed in a week or less and then you have cases like mine, which stayed "AT NVC" for almost 3 weeks...😔

NVC got our case on July 5 and only shipped it to Rio on July 24. The Consulate received it on July 30 and sent us Packet 3 on August 7.

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be much logic to it...

My fiancé sent all the documents (evidence of support) more than a month ago.

But it's in customs and never leaves!!!!

I'm starting to freak out because my interview is in less than 2 weeks.

I was wondering if I could print out the signed documents and bring to interview - not the original.

Or you guys have any other ideas what I could do??

Thanks!

The only original document I am taking to the interview is the letter from employer, because the tax transcripts are Internet generated, as well as the payslips and letter from the bank.

As to the i134, it says a wet signature is not required so I wouldn't worry about that.

Perhaps other people can provide more insights!

My docs were stuck at customs forever, but they made it to me just in time.

If yours don’t get to you by your interview date, print what you have and hand the copies. If they really need originals, they will tell you and you can send them later on.

i wouldn’t worry about it, it’s an easy fix if originals are really needed.

I sent my documents through USPS to my Fiancee and it was also stuck at customs. It wasn't until I called USPS that I found out that it was held there because the Brazil import taxes had not been paid (Apparently they tax document shipping as well?). So my Finacee created an account on Brazil's mail carrier, Correios, used my tracking number on the package, then paid the $10 tax.

The package was then released and arrived to her 4 days later.

Not sure if this applies to your documents, but might be the same reason..

wait, what documents are you guys sending to embassy in rio de janeiro?

Hello,

No documents to the embassy, we were talking about sending original document files to our Fiancee through the mail (instead of electronically).

Not to create any confusion! lol

Hey guys. We have our interview scheduled for September 4th but we never got packet 4 or any email with instructions (Our case was "Ready" about 2 weeks ago). I've followed all the instructions on the consulate website and I think we have everything ready, but I`m curious and would like to know what the email, or packet 4, says, can somebody forward it to me?

Thank you.

Hello,

I understand medical needs to be completed before interview. Can medical exam be done same week as interview in Rio?

Thanks!

Sure it can be done within the same of the interview. A lot of people do that. The results may not be ready in time though, and your visa issuance will be pending until the consulate gets it

I suggest emailing the doctor's office in Rio. They will send you back a document explaining how you need to schedule everything to have the tests and medical done in a few days so you can do them right before the interview. It only takes a couple of days to get the results for the exams. I think many people are in the same situation so the doctor's office is prepared for this. Good luck!

Yes it can. Once you email the doctor's office in Rio, he will forward you all the instructions and options available to schedule your medical appointment before the interview so that he has enough time to send it to the embassy. Usually it takes 3-4 business days, so be ready to spend at least 5 or 6 days in Rio, since all the K1 visa interviews are only Tuesdays.
