Thread looks dead. Anyone here. Done with medical?

Sorry, no medical yet :(
Scheduled my interview and biometrics appointment 2 days ago, but it's a holiday in Brazil (Carnaval)... So I gotta wait until tomorrow or Thursday to call and schedule the medical.

If anyone's done with the medical, let us know! Is he gonna order blood work? Am I gonna have to do it and then go back to his office again? How does the whole thing work?

I had my medical in São Paulo two weeks ago. It was really fast. It was R$ 670. He ordered three exams: blood test, urine test and x-ray (R$600) . Also I had to take two vaccines. He wants to see DTaP and two MMRs. I only had DT and one MMR, so he asked me If wanted to take them in Brasil on in the US. I said Brasil so he sent me to a private vaccination center next to the place the exams take place. They were R$350.

How long  it take to get result of medical exam?

Also you mention two fees one 670 And 600 .. so total was 670 or its seperate?

And vaccination price is also seperate? 350?

It took two weeks. But that was because the doctor was out of the country the week after my exam.

My exam was actually on the 15th. Almost three weeks ago...

They say 3 business days, but It's more than that. The exams were on the 15th, and the results came out on the 19th. The doctor needs a couple days to put the package together, so at least 1 week.

If you check  the website of us embassy.  They wrote

Medical examination: $180.00

Vaccinations (if necessary): Varies
DNA test (if necessary):

There’s one fee for the doctor/ medical, which is a standard price of $180. Most doctors set a price in reais for the whole month, with no variation, you’d need to check with the doctors office when you set up your appointment.

A blood work, chest X-ray and a urine test are needed. So 3 more fees to pay, directly with the place you’re taking them at, it varies because each doctor has their own preferred places.

if anything more is needed, like vaccines and extra tests, more fees to pay.

I don’t believe insurance will cover those expenses. At the time I believe mine only covered the blood work and everything else was out of pocket.

They accept most of health insurances, but they require a higher coverage. Since mine was a basic health plan, it wouldn't cover the exams.
