Yes, your Immigrant Visa Case Number is your NVC number, it’ll start with RDJ and a sequence of 10 numbers. NVC will contact you with your case number or you can call them and ask if they’ve already received your approved case from USCIS and have a number. I’d also give them at least a month from the day of NOA2 before calling :)

I’ve received my case number exactly 1 month after NOA2, though my fiance had to call them and ask for it. A couple weeks later they shipped our petition to Brazil and emailed us a letter informing it was on it’s way to Rio de Janeiro’s embassy.

CEAC: https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

This is the website you’ll use to check your case once you have your nvc number.

Hope it helps :)

To use CEAC one must select "immigrant" and not "non-immigrant" to get updated information. Otherwise what you said was spot on.

Hi everyone! Just received our approval on January 16! Now we are putting everything together while we wait for the next steps with NVC, etc. I have a couple more questions to anyone who may be able to answer:

1) Do my fiance's vaccination records need to be translated to English?

2) My fiance's mother and grandmother need to apply for tourist visas to come to our wedding. I would like them to put me on their application to ensure approval (yes we have met many times). However, does this look bad to have a pending K1 and have more people from the same family requesting a tourist visa under my name?

Thank you! 😊

Q2 Your "name" has no weight as to their received a tourist visa. They must prove that they will not overstay their visa so USCIS will evaluate their "ties" to Brazil to answer will this person/couple return back to their country."

How do you decide whether or not to issue a visa? What does 214(b) mean?

For business and tourist visas (B-1/B-2), each applicant must qualify under section 214(b) of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), which states:

"Every alien shall be presumed to be an immigrant until he establishes to the satisfaction of the officer, at the time of the application for a visa . . . that he is entitled to nonimmigrant status . . .”

Essentially, the visa officer is looking to see that the applicant has compelling reasons to return to the Philippines. By law, the burden of proof is on the applicant to show that he or she qualifies for the visa. This proof may come in many forms, but when considered together, it must be strong enough for the interviewing officer to conclude that one’s ties to the Philippines will bring him/her back at the end of a temporary stay in the United States.

Oh yea I forgot to add that info haha and the vaccination form too :D thanks Greenbaum, always saving the day lol

When I scheduled my medical exam, the clinic emailed me instructions and it says they’re gonna give me a copy of the vaccination worksheet, which I think is the form DS-3025 you mentioned, probably in the sealed  envelope. But yea, when I questioned them about what documents I’ll need, all they said was “bring your passport, 6 3cm by 4cm photos, your vaccination records and consular letter with your case number (RDJ)”.

Figured I’d contribute some helpful info.  We interviewed and got appproved this last tuesday, we went with the mail visa option, which they provided a tracking number via email today (friday same week), sadly It’s sent via USPS which is the national post office here in the US.  My fiancee lives in the north of brazil, and when I sent something to her last year via the USPS it took about 3 days to get to brazil, then 4 ish weeks to go the rest of the way north.

Since the tracking number was created today it doesn’t have a estimated date yet for delivery.

So I’m hoping it won’t be as bad time wise this time.

She went to the interview solo, she said a few people there who were waiting to interview knew each other from a facebook group, it didn’t appear they went together though so they happened to just be there on the same day.  I thought that was cool.  I wonder if they went sight seeing together around Rio.  Strength in numbers is safer there i guess if they did.

The uber/taxi prices were kind of all over the place.  When she first got there it was about 45 R to go to the hotel from airport which was about a 20-25 min drive at noon 19.5 km.  Hotel was closer to biometrics though, that was about 9 R$ 3.5km, because you can’t have cell phones at biometrics she took a taxi back to hotel which was about 30 R.  Taxis are far more expensive it seems.   Going back to airport from hotel was only about 15 R.  So time of day and demand i guess was the issue at noon.

They use Correios to send the passport back, not USPS.

Hmmmm the number tracking they emailed her is a valid usps number that is in the label created status.

Ill have her fwd me the whole email later.  I searched correios site but there was no results for the tracking number like there was on the usps website.

Perhaps It’s coincidence and correios just doesn’t have trackig info on it yet.  We will see.

Interview booked yesterday for March 26th. That was the first and only day available.

Did anyone have trouble showing a scanned copy of affidavit of support and related documents? We are wondering if originals with we signature are required, since it can take months for our postal service to deliver them.

I'd like to expand on that question and ask if anyone's used a joint sponsor and if the Brazilian consulate sees any problem with it.

Also, @Ayrton, I see your NOA2 was in December, would you mind telling me how long it took for NVC to get back to you? Did you get an email from them or did you have to keep calling NVC and asking for your case's number?

I’m assuming you’re the beneficiary. Do you have any vaccination record from your country? It is required from the beneficiary to bring their vaccination record to the medical exam or, if you’re gonna have your medical in Rio (I can’t confirm other states in Brazil), you can get the shots required on the day of your medical, there’s a vacination clinic in the same building that is recommended by Dr Garrido, but of course, you’ll have to pay for all of them or you can get all shots required in America, though I would not advise you to do so, as I heard it’s quite expensive compared to Brazil.

I know they require you to have Td or Tdap, Varicella, MMR and Influenza (if it’s flu season it the US). Hope it helps :)

Cool! Better safe than sorry :) It won’t be a problem as long as you bring all your vac records and if you need any extra shot, the doctor will tell you which ones you need and that you can get them in America.

You’ll need MMR and Influenza (I’m almost positive). Dr. Garrido told me during my medical exam that flu season is around October and that’s when they require Influenza (not H1N1), but I decided to get it anyway in case I need it later for AOS. Also, Varicella if you don’t have chickenpox history.
