I understand how this can be confusing. The letter from the consulate sometimes comes, sometimes doesn't as the P3. The P3 is instructions that are available online. If it does come, it's much after the fact. What we had to take to the medical was the emailed confirmation of the scheduled interview. You will also need the NOA2. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for replying, I’m much more relaxed now knowing that I don’t need to reschedule my interview and medical appointment. Thanks a lot for the info! It is very confusing, yes.

Also, I’m sorry for quoting you once more, but I was afraid that editing my previous post would not work since I’m attaching a photo. Is this the email confirmation of the scheduled interview you mentioned above? The same one we need to bring to the interview right? And NOA 2 as well, I had no idea I had to take NOA2 to the medical, thanks a lot for sharing this info, it sure helped me ^^

Yup, that's the one. I can't actually recall if you need the NOA2 at the medical, but you do need it at the interview. You will also get a confirmation from the CEAC when you make that appointment for the biometrics. I think we took all 3 confirmations just to be sure, I just don't recall which ones they wanted at the medical. I think it was only the interview confirmation.

I see :) This email I received had both the interview confirmation and the ASC appointment for biometrics confirmation, so I guess I should only take this one and NOA 2. I also sent the DS-160 confirmation copy from CEAC to myself as a backup, I don’t know if it’s of any help. I’m taking all of this to the interview and, just to be safe like you, I’ll take them to the medical as well lol

Thanks a lot, I hope this was also helpful information for everyone going through the same process here in Brazil ^^

Sorry for quoting you in a separate post, but I couldn’t help but notice that you said you were able to schedule your interview, which is part of my question in the post above. I read many times that we are able to schedule our interview and that’s what I did as soon as my case status changed to ready, and because I see that you already have your fiance’s scheduled for an interview since Dec 12, I’d like to ask if you could give me some insight regarding my questions. I very much appreciate any help.

Sorry that I'm just now seeing this, I haven't been on here in a week or more. I see you've had some other posts since, have you had your questions answered. If not, I will try to answer any. If I can remember how things went. 😁

Yes and thanks for your concern ^^ I’ve had my questions answered but I’d like to ask you something, since your case was ready a couple weeks before my case. I’ve contacted the embassy in rio through email and the only thing they said was that I should wait to schedule my interview because it wasn’t ready yet (even though NVC says Ready since Dec 28) and that they’ll send me instructions, I’m guessing this is a standard answer. As Moon&Stars said, I might not get a P3 letter and if I do, it’ll most likely be much later after, and as of now, no instruction letter was received. Well, I’ve scheduled my interview on the 19th of February anyways lol, it was the first day available for me. Have they emailed you or your fiance(e) instructions on how to schedule your interview? If yes, how long did it take since your case was ready in CEAC? And if not, I see from your timeline you have your fiance(e)’s interview scheduled already, have you tried contacting them asking for instructions? I was wondering if they don’t contact me ever until the day of my interview if it will be a problem. Of course, I’ll try contacting them again after I attend my medical appointment just to make sure :)

My fiance is coming to Brazil to go to the interview with me, so I would’t like to have to reschedule it if possible.

Thanks in advance, any help is greatly appreciated :D

Oh, good. I'm happy you've had some of them answered already. I'll see if I can help with these others some.

We scheduled our interview on 12 December. Our status changed to "Ready" that day. Or late the day before. I (the petitioner) did not receive an email from the embassy with interview scheduling instructions until 21 December. She never did to my knowledge, but I forward it to her even though we had already scheduled the interview and her bio-metrics.

From what I have read on here, it should not be an issue if you don't get the email about scheduling. I believe others have never gotten it before also and it has not been a problem. As long as you can get it scheduled and know all of the documents to bring with you to it. They do provide this link in the email for all of the documents you will need. https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee/the-interview-2/

I hope this helps!

Even if the CEAC website states your case is "ready" some embassies, can't say which or why, but they will flip the ready switch even when they are not ready. Here is the information for Brazil.

You should become familiar with your country's sub-forum here on VJ to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with. This will allow you to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to take at the US Embassy - Brazil.  Sub-forum for Brazil is located here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

This is the Packet 3 (P3) letter from your Embassy.

There is a lot of information on the Embassy for Brazil here https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/frequently-asked-questions-non-immigrant-visas/

A thread were a lot of chatter about the process for the Brazil Embassy and interview

Thanks @Mike&Dani and @Greenbaum :) Yes, it does help a lot to have this information. I did read the instructions on that specific link and that’s exactly how I was able to schedule my interview and biometrics, pay for the fee, and schedule medical ^^ (thanks to Greenbaum :D). I’d like to ask if you could keep me informed if you get a P4 letter from the embassy prior to your fiancee’s interview? @Mike&Dani

Thanks a lot you both, as well as Moon&Stars and the rest of the community who helped me directly and indirectly through this journey!

Random question to anyone who may be able to answer:

My fiance has 2 original copies of his birth certificate which he has laminated to preserve them. Do you see this as a problem that although it is original, the actual paper cannot be touched? He believes it should be fine because it has been preserved for 29 years :P, but of course I'm worried!

Thank you!

I think it will be ok. Just make copies to give to the CO at the interview. They will view the original and keep a copy. The worse that will happen is he will get 221(g) (that similar to an RFE) for an original copy. Your delay could be 2-3 weeks after submitting the 221(g) back to the consulate. Avoid the possibility of the delay and get another original from his country.

Laminating was raging around the time he was born... it should be fine during his interview. I suggest getting a new copy though, cause here it’s not common and may cause some trouble later on, it shouldn’t be too expensive or take too long

They don’t send “packets” or letters. The only thing they send is an email with the info needed to schedule the interview, medical and list of docs needed. The confirmation about scheduled interview is sent automatically by the scheduling website and that’s pretty much it.

The email is what's commonly referred to as packet 3.
