I did all the exams and physical on the same day (Tuesday September 25th), I got my DS-3025 at the end of the physical. The sealed envelope was available for me to pick it up September 28th.

I was originally gonna get my medical in Belo Horizonte but I'm now thinking of getting it in Rio.

 

My friend got his medical done in Belo and he said the doctor was not friendly and asked him a bunch of random non medical questions. She even asked if he had lived illegally in the US at any time of his life.

 

Would you mind sharing how your actual medical went, what questions were asked and stuff like that?

I did in Belo Horizonte and she indeed ask those questions. Though, I think it's a procedure, because she took notes of it. Wasn't a problem after all anyway.

The physical appointment wasn't what I expected. I expected it to be more intensive, but it was mainly questioning and superficial checkups.

First I paid the R$ 700 to the secretary, gave my passport and ASC confirmation page (Which has my RDJ number), gave 6 3x4 photos, and my vaccination records, and filled out something she asked me.

 

The doctor asked me If I had any surgery during my life, asked if I donated blood, asked if I had done HIV testing (I did when I donated blood). I showed him my eyes exam and told him I had nystagmus. When I said that, he focused a part of the appointment on it. He asked when I first detected it, how it interfered with my life, what was the cause of it, etc. For him, only diseases could cause nystagmus, I explained to him that that was not the only cause. He did some research on Nystagmus while I was explaining that to him and he saw what I meant. He also asked if I could drive, I said that I can but I don't have a driver’s license because of my sight limitations. It was not in a rude way, it was fine. He gave me the DS-3025 together with my vaccination records.

 

After the questioning he measured my height, my weight, he took my forehead temperature, checked my throat, my heart pulses, my blood pressure and my ears. He then explained to me that my visual limitation is considered a "disability" and that I wouldn't be able to do some kind of works. I said I understand, but for my area of work it does not impact me that much (I am a Software Engineer). That was it.

 

When I went there to pick the sealed envelope up, the secretary also gave me the exams I took (Urine, Blood, X-Ray). She said I will need them entering the USA. Those exams were not sealed.

Oh I know that she asks stuff like that and that she writes things down but the way he told me made it sound like it was not a good experience. He said she asked him if he'd ever been there, if he'd ever been there illegally, if he had ever tried for a fiance and if he was ever denied one. Like what does that have to do with the medical? Ive gone over the medical form and nowhere does it ask things like that lol

He also said that she asked if he has chickenpox in the past and he said that he had it when he was 7 and then he said that she started asking him '' but how do you know'' then he proceeded to her that he remembers and the she insisted on asking him how he knew it was chickenpox and then went on to give him a little lecture on how he'll need to have evidence of everything that he says once he is living in the US. Idk, he thought it was strange and I thought the same thing as he was telling me.

Thanks for that explanation. That was very insightful! My fiance will be joining me for the interview so I might arrive a few days early to get the medical done at go to the CASV. So from your information I know that it takes 3 days from the day I get the exams done to the day I get the results back.  On the 25th, did you get the exams done in the morning and then go into the medical in the afternoon?

Oh, I didn't know that. I haven't contacted them. I was just thinking it was the same process as in Belo bc there they are requiring the vaccines.

Yeah the email sent to my fiancée said no immunizations will he required at time of medical exam for k1, but of course all required immunization will be required at time of AOS

But if you have any k2 under age 18 they may need immunizations at the medical

He didn't ask any questions like that.

I did all the vaccines for my age range, which he sends in a list with all the vaccines one should have if he is of a certain age. He states they are not required to get into USA, but you will need them for the next step. This facilitates your process when you are applying for the AOS so you don’t have to go to the panel physician’s there.

I brought my original vaccination records only. They were given back to me at the end of the physical appointment.

I did Blood and Urine exams in the same lab (Lab Lamina), then I did the X Ray (Clinica Cavallieri), and finally my physical appointment was on the same day at 2:30 pm.

If you don't have the instructions, send an email for rjconsultorio@gmail.com. They answer you really quick. Their instructions are very clear and easy to understand 🙂

Hi guys I just got my passport at the Belo Horizonte CASV. For those that are thinking about sending the passport sent to the CASV instead of mailing it to your house, I wouldn't recommend it. The Consulate use Correios to send the package to the CASV by Sedex, as it's printed on the package I got, so it only worthy it if you live close to the CASV, otherwise the delivery time would be even short since Sedex it's pretty quick.

Immunizations for a k1 are not required, yes, but then they are for aos. People can waive getting the vaccines at their k1 medical. I would not recommend it.

 

brazilians can get most of the vaccines at a posto de saúde for free, I believe only the dtap and flu are not available, so you’d need to get those at a private clinic, it’s kinda expensive but it’s much better to have it done before/ at k1 medical or else when the person gets here they will have to go for a uscis approved doctor and they are way more expensive here and also can require a whole other medical. 

 

Do a search here on vj and you can see which vaccines are required.
