How long have you guys noticed that it usually takes to deliver the passport after the interview if you pick it up there in Rio? Trying to plan my Trip. Thank you

Within 2 weeks. But please don’t make any hard set plans, things can go wrong, if making flight purchases make sure it’s refundable, etc.

For those in Rio Grande Do Norte. The civil police no longer issues police certificates. I emailed the consulate and they said that only a certificate from the Federal Police is required from this state.

Good luck to all!

It appears that the Rio Consulate sends the Passport Packet via Correios to CASV.  I just read this on this Forum that they no longer use DHL nor SEDEX. People who posted here thinks that Correios are  hard to trust because it's a Brazilian Post Office with  incompetent slow as* workers than turtles... LOL or they maybe short of couriers so therefore expect for no urgency in getting the visa delivered to CASV on time.  Kinda unfair system for those who lives outside the RIO.

So here is my question to you all based on experience:

1. How long did it take for the visa to arrive in Sao Paulo CASV  from Issued date if the Rio Consulate is using the Correios for delivery? Let's say if the Visa was issued Monday, how long does it usually take to get notification from CASV for pick-up?.

2. Do you even get a tracking # if it is sent to CASV?

It's ridiculous how this RIO Embassy is using this poor service for a document that is very sensitive just so they can save money for their own benefit but the fees are all the same for the most countries and yet these countries are using Premium mail like DHL, Express Delivery, Fedex... I can smell corruption here. UGH!

For those who have already taken their visa back, from the issued status to the visa return how long did it take? I think I'm expecting too much for my visa already issued to return to São Paulo.

I’ve never had any problems with correios. People report the same problems here in the US with USPS and I’ve never had any problems with them either.

Problems and delays can happen, nothing is 100% perfect.

Within 2 weeks after the interview seems a reasonable timeline, maybe a couple more days if there’s a holiday.

On a side note, Its September and I highly suggest people hold their POE until late December so they get married next year - it will make filing taxes in Brazil and here much easier. Also don’t forget to send your saída definitiva form to the RF.

Good luck to everyone. Things will happen and patience goes a long way in this whole process - remember this is just one step in a couple more to come.

edit: them choosing correios over another courier service had to do with them being legally obligated to. Please read https://www.google.com/amp/s/viagemeturismo.abril.com.br/destinos/dhl-informa-entrega-do-visto-dos-estados-unidos-sob-sua-custodia/amp/

I may be overthinking this, but can anyone give me some advice? Yesterday our status changed to "ready" at the embassy. We have yet to receive an email, which I'm assuming means we haven't received packet 3 or 4. When should we expect these? is that what we need to wait on to schedule our appointments?

We are still waiting for a foreign police certificate and his foreign passport renewal to be finished. Hopefully they will both be in within another month or so. How easy is it to reschedule an interview or medical appointment? Will there be an additional fee? My fear is that we will schedule these and then we won't have the passport returned (they told us it might take 60 days, it's been 25 days already). The police certificate can take up to 2 months to receive and we just had to resend the fingerprints as they never received the first request. I'm trying to decide if we should schedule now for early November or wait until we have the documents in hand because it's costly to reschedule.

Thanks for your advice!

There’s not really packet 3 and 4. It will only be an email the consulate will send out to the petitioner with the instructions for the beneficiary to go further with applying for the k1. All the info is available at their website.

People here have recently reported they’ve been able to schedule interviews and fill out the ds160 with the status saying ready on ceac.

You can wait and there’s no need to rush. Just keep an eye on your noa2 expiration date and keep contact with the consulate in case things get delayed further

You said two weeks after the interview but how long did it take from Issued to Visa on Hand or delivered?

Doesn't mean that on the day of interview the visa will be issued. It usually starts from IV Ready, changed to IV AP, then changed to NIV Ready, then NIV AR sits for couple days, then NIV AP to Issued. All these activities have occurred  in the tracker within two weeks, but how long it took for visa to be delivered from the Issued date?

It's the same question we have here on the forum. Im trying to find out how long it takes for the passport to be delivered  from the ISSUED date not from the Interview date.

I still could not get an answer.

Your timeline shows your interview was August 21? Have you been waiting an entire month for it to be delivered? 😬

We just had our interview on September 18, and are having it delivered back to Sao Paulo. The NVC tracking says: "If you have not received it in more than 10 working days, please see the webpage for contact information of the embassy or consulate where you submitted your application."

I'll update everyone here once we have the visa in hand.

It varies. My status changed to issued on Aug 31 but I only received the email to schedule the pick up five days later, on Sep 5. I had my visa in hand on Sep 10. People who had their interview on the same date as me had their status changed to issued on Aug 30, got the email on Aug 31 and had their visa in hand on Sep. 4.

But in my case I chose to pick it up in Rio. If anyone here chose to have their visa delivered, please speak up and share your experience! :)

Other than that, I can only recommend that if you see people who got approved on the same date as you get their visas/ emails/ whatnots, your best option is to contact the CASV an email to confirm they got your email/address right.

I had my interview on August 28 and I got the email to schedule the pick up appointment the following week, on Sep 5. I'd say the norm is that you should get an email from CASV within 2 to 7 days after status turn into "issued", if it takes longer than that you might want to contact the Consulate or the CASV just to make sure they got your contact details right.

I haven’t payed attention or kept checking the status all the time. I do not know how long it took but think within two weeks from interview is reasonable. If yours is taking longer, just contact the consulate and have them check it for you
