Is a co-sponsor needed for a graduate student that meets the income requirement?

I am a PhD student and my income is (barely) over the 125% requirement (if it is indeed gross income and not net income that matters). My concern is that my position as a graduate student is not a permanent job and is also technically part-time, and both of those things are supposed to be mentioned on the letter from my employer. I was planning on having a co-sponsor just in case it was necessary but I might not be able to have this person be a co-sponsor anymore - how imperative do you think it is for someone in my position to have a co-sponsor? Should I try to get someone else to be a co-sponsor or will I be okay as long as my income meets the requirement?
