Vacation in Canada

I and my girlfriend are from France and are living in the US on a work visa. We are looking to go on a  vacation. Canada is lovely and we both love it there. And there is this amazing park in Algonquin and we were thinking about going there.
But we are so confused about going there. Canada is right next to the US, but can we enter the country from the US or should we go back to France and go from there. We are confused and I hope someone here can help me.

Why would you want to go to France in order to travel to Canada? There are flights from US to Canada (eTA is only for when you are arriving by air).

French citizens are required to apply for a Canada eTA visa to enter Canada on a short term basis (under 90 days) for general tourism, business, transit or medical purposes.

French citizens can expect their eTA application to normally be processed and approved within 5 minutes, and the authorization is sent by email in the form of a PDF document. There is no need to print or present any documents at the airport, as the eTA is stored electronically against the passport in the Canada Immigration system.

No need to go via France or any other country to visit Canada

You enter Canada using your national passport and Canadian eTA visitors visa if arriving by air

You reentry the US using your passport and E2 visa

From  http://www.immi-usa.com/e2-visa/e2-visa-renewal-and-extension/

Q. Are there restrictions on my ability to travel while on E2 visa?

One of the fortunate things about the E2 visa are that there aren’t any travel restrictions imposed (i.e., number of times you are permitted to leave and re-enter). USCIS also doesn’t specify the amount of time you can stay abroad before having to return.
