I think this needs to be obtained after the embassy calls your for the interview. In some countries they are only valid for a short time before having to get another one. I'd say to get it about one month before your interview

Check the embassy website to see how long it will be valid. At the Moscow embassy they say one year. DO NOT WAIT until one month before the interview as it often takes more than one month to get the police certificate. We had that problem, and I have seen many others have the same.

Its valid for a year in the UK and it takes around 40 days to obtain. So once you get NOA2 I would apply for it! Good luck!

I heard that you have to go to the police station in every area that you have ever lived in, is this true. I have stayed in 4 different areas since I was 16, do I need to get a record from every force or is there a centralised department that deals with it.
