need to sort name change on SSN and file streamline taxes

Hi

Bit complicated.

Wife is a USC with dual mationality as UKC living in UK with me who is a a UKC.

 

Just realised that she needed to of been submitting tax returns, so after research realised she needs to submit last 3 years under the streamlined procedure, however now realised that she never changed he name on her SSN to her married name.

So I know she can submit form SS-5 to London Embassy to change her name on SSN, the embassy website states will take 6-8 weeks.

So my question is -

• Can she file her tax returns in her previous name and then once filed change her name on her SSN via the Federal benefits unit at the London Embassy. If she does it that way how long does she have to wait before submitting SSN name change after posting her tax returns.
• Is it better to submit the SSN name change to the embassy first then wait the 8 weeks before submitting the tax returns in her new married name. Is this better as the tax return will then be in her new name that the I-130 etc will be submitted in.

 

Just want to know which is the quickest and correct way to resolve this, especially as after sorted will be submitting the I-130 petition.
