Interview Waiting list?

Just a quick question, ( I know this has been answered before in this forum, because I noticed it brought up a couple weeks ago, but I can't find the thread now, and can't seem to remember the answer, hehe.)

When exactly do you get put on the waiting list for your interview at Montreal? Is it after you pay your IV bill, or after you send in your DS-230?

My hubby is sending in the I-864 tomorrow, and I payed the IV bill last week, so we are just curious when the actual waiting for the interview begins.

Technically you wont be placed on the notorious "montreal waiting list". It's actually th NVC who schedules the interview appts for Montreal. After your case completes at the NVC, which is about 2-3 weeks after they receive the DS-230 I believe, they'll send it to Montreal and you'll get notification of the interview date within a few weeks.

You're a CR-1/IR-1 applicant so your interview so you won't get put on a waiting list until your case is complete at the NVC. The NVC schedules the interviews for these with Montreal around the middle of each month. Our Mao and Riblet both went the CR-1 route so you can have a look at their timelines to see what comes next and when their case was completed to getting an interview date.

Oh god no.........we ended up sending the forms back to the NVC......in fact we just paid the Iv Bill this week. I should switch my timeline over to Cr-1.

LUCKY! I wish I could go back and do CR-1 but USCIS retained my approved I-130.

I think we were in the last bunch that had the opportunity to run both horses and yeah we were lucky. I wish I hadn't been so bullheaded in the beginning about doing the CR-1 through Montreal. Our I-130 reached the NVC the same day as Riblet's....so you know which interview we likely would have had last month dontcha.......toopid toopid me. We're hoping for a GC by August tho, so NBD.

Yeah, if mine wasn't retained I totally would have gone CR-1 and flown back to Canada for that interview. Seems like a lot less of a headache than AOS.
