Typically, when somebody asks a general question on this forum, one of the very first responses is to instruct the OP to read the guides linked from the stickied topic.  This is totally justifiable.  What is less justifiable is that the guide contains some out of date info that can (and in my case, did) cause some confusion.  I am referring to the guide here:

http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1

Main issue I noticed were the instructions for the NVC stage.  The physical forms, OF-169 and OF-230 have been supplanted by the online forms DS-261 and DS-260 respectively.  These forms will not arrive in any packets sent by the NVC.  IMO referring a newbie to forms that no longer exist is not a minor mistake for a guide.

Another small point is that it isn't necessary to include passport-style photos of the beneficiary at the I-130 stage if he/she resides abroad (although it can't hurt).

This forum has been of immense help to me, just wanted to add my contribution :)
