I can't speak for Bill but this is my view. Only people who are content living on a diet consisting of Alpo would choose to count on those programs rather than planning and saving for retirement on their own. There are exceptions to that opinion such as disabled people and such but if you are just sitting back and counting on those programs and not at least trying to supplement them with your own savings you are foolish to say the least.

There were separations in cases where they couldn't prove a connection between the adult and the child.

no one is saying they didn't occur before trump. but trump's policy was not the same as clinton/obamas - which was the claim.

The world is full of leaders that have sycophants that believe everything they say.  Hey we went through 8 years of it already.  Politically agreeing with a leader is not blind worship except to those that disagree like the author of this piece.  Trump has done a lot of what was promised by him and a lot of people agree with him politically.  The other side needs a much better message than open borders, eliminate ICE, and let's go even further Left to get there, but whatever.  Still no evidence of Trump being an authoritarian, or little Hitler, or Mussolini, etc. here.

no one said political agreement is blind worship.

no evidence that trump is currently those things, but plenty of evidence that he wants to be.

Sure, no president has exactly the same policies relative to upholding the laws of this great country.  Still a poor argument started as this policy by Trump is well within the laws duly passed by the congress and signed by a previous president, not authoritarian at all.

The policy was in place and was used by Obama but not as much because he decided to circumvent the law and have illegals released immediately in most cases to return to court about a year later. Guess how many of them showed up for court. If they have to be held you have to ask yourself if you really care about the children what is a safer situation for them? Put them in an adult holding area where potentially violent criminals are being held with the adults that accompanied them not immediately knowing if they are the parents or not or for a short period of time separate them until that can be sorted out?
