Hi, my name is Pasqual and I have been doing everything I can to makes sure this process goes smooth. I have a few things that I have been wondering after a lot of research I did. One of the things I have been wondering is when it comes to the passport photos that need to be submitted with the application can my fiance who lives in Brazil have the photos done there and send the photos to me by email and have me print them here in my city of New York? Another question that has been on my mind is what if we do not have many actual missed or received phone call photos but we have a lot of photos of us in facetime? Most of the time we spoke in facetime or sometimes whatsapp video. My fiance's internet in the part of her city was often bad and reading her lips through video was a lot easier in most situations than over the phone where I couldn't exactly tell what see was saying. Another thing I was wonder was do the consulate actually mails her house for anything? Like for more documents needed or a interview ? There was also something more that had me wondering. My girlfriend was first living in the forest with her grandparents and the information she gave me didn't have really a address number. She gave me only a river name and a part of a section of that area name. Do that look bad to the consulate? She lived there till she was about 4 and then she moved to a normal city with her parents. Since this is being done in Brazil I was told that my girlfriend has to travel to Rio when its time for the interview and that it will take a maximal of 10 days for her to be able to do the immunizations and the interview to have everything ready for leaving the country. How true is that? My last question is does it look bad if my good close friend is sponsoring her? Someone whos knows a bit about the process said that they might think that I'm just trying to get my fiance into the country. Please someone explain these things to me. I'm sorry for all the questions but I'm ready to get through this process and its very nerve wrecking, so I wanted to send everything in one shot as we have been wondering and stressed about this for more than a month. I wanted to upload a picture here but they are saying my files are too big but I will eventually.

If you can print the photos to standard passport size and quality then yes you could do that.

We only sent in 5-10 text messages/emails showing a timeline of our communication. We facetime'd most of our time also so we didn't have a ton of records minus our Imessages. With Brazil not sure if they would like more or not but you have to just gather what you can manage to honestly.

I'm not sure how it goes in Brazil as to the embassy mailing her anything so someone else will have to help there.

Was she living in the "forest" within the last 5 years? haha She wouldn't even list it on any of the documents. But, in short, no it wouldn't matter at all to the consulate.

As for how long it takes, I would say 7-10 days is reasonable to think about travel to Rio, medical, interview and all in one shot.

And no, your friend being a co-sponsor doesn't look bad. And of course you're trying to get your fiance into the country, that's the point.

Yes. She can also mail it to you, via express mail, that is what I did, worked out well.

Right now, USCIS wants your petition with your information correctly and yes send some proof like photos, chats etc but that wont influence as much right now.

Initial part of K1 (i129f) is all done through you. You will receive the notifications and when the interview part comes both of you will be notified by email.

Like for more documents needed or a interview ?

The decision during the interview date will be shared with her. They will either keep her passport which in most cases means that she was approved or they will request more evidence.

Well as long as that is her real address and she receives mail through that you are fine.

In Brazil, K1 interviews and visas are held in Rio. So she needs to travel there for her interview, meanwhile make sure she takes all the shots. Please note that K1 will also require medical exam which is also only available in a few states. (US Embassy contain this info).

My last question

You will need to provide the financial support documentation. That happens a lot and if your relationship is legit it wont look bad.

Hope it helps

@Ben&Zian Yea she was was in the forest till she was about four or five, so a proper address could not be given for that. I really appreciate this info sir. I was wondering how much impact do her parents have on our situation. They do not really like or trust any Americans. This has been worrying me a lot. But there are others in her family that know of our relationship.

@T_P Hey thank you that information really helps.  I did try having the passport photos mailed already with Sedex but the tracking number they gave my girlfriend don't work and I haven't been able to track it here. I'm wondering if shes been scammed. The photos should have been mailed here already but I never got them. Now we are looking for the next best way for me to get her passport photos. If I take them by email where could I go to get them done? I know passport photos look like they are usually in some kinda of shiny paper material. I was also wondering how much impact do her parents have on our situation. They do not really like or trust any Americans. This has been worrying me a lot. But there are others in her family that know of our relationship.

I apologize people. I'm very new here. I still don't know how to respond properly.

That is very weird, while in Brazil I sent stuff to my now wife and it always arrived just fine, usually taking almost a month but it would get to the destination. As far as photos, go to Walgreens and you should be fine.

1- she can scan her passport picture (should be a 5x7 cm or 5x5 cm Brazilian standard) and send it to you. You can go to Walmart, Walgreens, whatever, to have them printed to be a part of your application.

2- photos are secondary evidence. Make sure you send good proof of having met within the last two years. Passport stamps, boarding passes and such a better evidence. You can send pictures of your FaceTime chats or messages but to show some ongoing relationship proof but they are not mandatory or hold much weight for the petition overall.

3 and 4- they won’t mail her anything by post office so it doesn’t really matter. They will ask for her current address and addresses for the past 5 years. Anything from her childhood will be irrelevant.

5- she can get her vaccines anywhere she is at a posto de saúde, free of charge. If there are any missing shot by the time she has her medical, then she will have it done there and will have to pay for them. Medical are only held I a few states there, so you guys will need to plan what’s best. Some people think it’s better to have it all done in Rio, but it’s more of a personal choice.

6- as long as the sponsor has the means to support the intending immigrant it should be fine. Make sure you hand out the right documents at interview and that’s about it
