Companies as big as Disney really should take care of this kind of thing before they hire someone. They have the resources to look into someone's background. Looks bad that this happened in 2009 and Disney hires the guy in 2014 and get's rid of him in 2018. Looks like they are reacting to getting caught.

Agree completely.  Disney either dropped the ball back in 2014 when some of the tweets were only three years old (my understanding is that the offensive tweets were from a period between 2009 and 2011) or they knew about it and crossed their fingers.

It's been the standard for a while now that companies look at social media. We get a reminder warning once a year or so not to discuss work or sensitive information on social media. We also have an HR policy that they may look at social media content when you are hired.

For a company as big as Disney and a hiring as big as this, they should have known about this. It reflects poorly on Disney no matter what the reason.

if someone lets you it aint that.

If I were you I would probably re-phrase that or explain the sentence because it suggests something pretty bad. Just FYI.

he's just following the trumpism "when you're a star - they let you do it"

in other words, rich famous people cannot sexually assault, because everyone wants them.

That's not even true though and why continue to joke about something that shouldn't be joked about just because some other dude did it? Why do so many men have to copy bad behavior from some dude they think is "cool"? It's getting old. What would be refreshing would be seeing men take a stand against sexual assault instead of joking and laughing about it. Maybe weak men who rape would finally understand that what they do is pathetic and wrong.

I've noticed, that's why I added the part about how it would be refreshing if men stood up and said that what Trump said was awful and wrong instead of laughing about it, make excuses for him or keep the joke going.

they think that they are righteous because they believe they are saying what everyone thinks but no one says out loud. not a good sign for women, having an openly misogynist president.

And then people wonder and laughed about the women who were worried about being raped after the election. Because they did not know how some men would react to having a president basically say it was okay to rape women.

Is it really though? You don't know anything about those women. Neither do I. But I am sure that they had a legitimate reason to be worried.

After the president refused to condemn the neo-nazis in Charlottesville there were more idiots who were brave enough to express their feelings and we saw an increase in swasticas painted at school etc.

Would not have surprised me if we would have seen an increase in sexual assaults because of what the president said about how he treats women. Or maybe there were but women didn't feel like they could report it. We don't know.

What is the likelihood that right after the election, we would see an uptick in rapes just because Trump was elected? Exactly zero, which is why the absurd reactions we saw are laughable.  An election does not mean that a bunch of men suddenly become deranged and start breaking the law to wantonly have their way with women.  To think it would borders on crazy.

As to the remarks Trump made about women wanting him, pretty much true.  It was true for Kennedy, Hefner, Martin L. King, Clinton and many more.  Some women will throw themselves at rich and powerful men, and it's not always for love.

not just because trump was elected, because a proud misogynist was elected. exactly zero? prove it.

and here we go. let's have the men all explain why trump is right, sexual assault is okay if you're famous and rich, women are gold diggers and liars. and crazy.
