i don't know about this guy, but i don't mind shock humor. and i agree, totally disney's decision to make. makes no difference to me. same with rosanne. it was abc's decision to make.

Personally I think there is a difference between shock humor and sick humor.  This guy was more in the spectrum of sick humor.

historically, in cinema/comedy - there really isn't a difference. but this guy's tweets actually have nothing to do with cinema.

Not relevant. A company is not going to support someone who makes sick horrible jokes about their target audience. People are not going to want to support them and they know it, hence why he got fired.

i see where you and disney are coming from, but only if he'd make those comments in the present. he made them in 2009. people grow up, people change. what i found funny 10 years ago, doesn't make me laugh now..and vice versa.

Don't know what John Waters is. But I do know that it is always smart to go through your social media accounts and remove stuff that is not you anymore. If your opinions have changed or you want to apply for a job where a certain opinion might be used against you, go through all your posts and remove them. Or better yet, don't put it on the internet. Once it's on the internet it will never truly go away.

John's a cool guy and local legend but his stuff isn't for everyone.

 

The fired director made his mark with provocative films that were kinda trashy, but people like that sort of thing. That made him an odd choice to direct a Marvel film. But Disney was trying to bump up the edge in an age where Logan and Deadpool are megahits. He is 50ish years old now..so he was certainly old enough to be grown when he made those original comments. Hiring department should have looked into that thoroughly.

you're right that nothing is ever truly erased by the internet, that's why i think there should be thought given to when the offensive comments were made.

this is true.

 

i just looked him up, he wrote for my favorite dawn of the dead remake. and he was an actor in a toxic avenger sequel. and slither was a pretty good movie. seems like a decent guy to me.
