Hello!

I am planning to submit my documents this week. However, i want to make sure that my amount of evidence is enough. We are not a media or super active couple, so we do not have much photos or stuff together

Here is my list of evidence I am providing:

  • Copy of Certificate of Marriage
  • Copy of Lease Agreement showing joint occupancy
  • Copies of Financial Records such as:
    • 2016 and 2017 tax transcripts from IRS (Married filing joint)
    • Statements from our joint account with Wells Fargo 2016-2018
  • Copy of car insurance with both of our names under our names 2017 - 2019
  • Copy of GCI phone bills and internet showing shared mobile/data plan 2016-2018
  • Copies of mail and purchases under my husband’s name and under my name showing the same address (amazon orders, mail)
  • Copy of airline reservation for a vacation that we had planned in January of 2016
    • Flight tickets confirmation
    • Copy of hotel reservation
  • Copies of photos of us together at various events with family and friends throughout the years

Also I have couple questions:

1) Does it look like I need affidavits ? We asked couple friends to write but it didn't happen cause our close friends work 2-3 jobs and being busy.

2) Do i need to submit W-2 showing the same address or as an extra financial evidence?

Thank you for taking your time!

Not sure anyone can say for sure if it is enough, but it does seems like a good bit of evidence.  Did you ever consider creating wills and living wills?  I don't believe you need the W2s, and as far as the affidavits, the instructions state these "should" be included in the submission which is not the same as "shall", but I am not certain if they are absolutely required.

Good Luck!

Hi,

It looks like you have a good amount! The person that was preparing my package told me that if you have sufficient evidence, photos and affidavits are like "extras" -- still an evidence but not as strong as tax transcripts or leases would be.  I pretty much had the same list for my package, and if you have medical insurance together, also include that. I included affidavits even after I was told not to, just because I rather give everything that I can at the beginning than be sorry later. Put your pictures in a ziplock bag and don't go crazy -- 20 -25 photos should be enough I feel. I think I had the same amount.

And for W2 & taxes -- I put everything! W2's, taxes, signed eFile form,  tax transcripts, actual copies of taxes.

:-) Good luck!

Hi, your list looks good. It shows joint communal residence, joint financial records, joint responsibilites, and that you have been doing life events together.

I would suggest perhaps you can add the following documents to further strengthen your case:

-go ahead and add sworn affidavits or sworn letters I think should be fine (at least 2)

-perhaps add joint bank cards (debit and/or credit cards). You can block off the last four digits while showing that the first few digits indicate they are under the same account.

-add copy of your driver’s licenses or state ids to show same address

-add greeting cards sent to both of you as a couple

Regarding your evidence for ROC, uscis wants to see primarely proof of financial co-mingling and cohabitation. I can see that you pretty much have everything. Just make sure the evidence you submit covers the period since you got married up until present day(where you lived, accounts opened, statements, all tax years etc).

As proof of financial co-mingling  and cohabitation you have options like:

• joint bank accounts

• joint ownership of car, house, land etc

• tax returns filled as married(you do not need to send w2's, but if it makes you more comfortable, you can do it)

• Mortgage, rent, lease or any other proof that you live under same roof

• health insurance showing both covered under same policy

• life insurance showing the other spouse as the beneficiary of the policy

• retirement plans

• power of atorney documents

• wills

• auto insurance under both names

• utility bills like electricity, gas, water, internet...under both names or certain bills in one name and certain bills in the other name showing same address

• phone bill under both names or has both phone numbers enlisted in the plan. You can include some random history activity on the account between the 2 numbers that shows voice and message records.

• any type of active memberships that you have on both names (gym, botanical gardens, clubs). I included copies of membership cards that had our names, picture and other specific details.

• proof of trips you went or plan to go together

• affidavids from people you both know and have personal knowledge of your marriage(many people say they are not required. I say, if you can have them, send one or two, if you are in a position that nobody is available or you just dont have that many friends, don't worry about it. It is considered secondary evidence, so it does not hold much strength if not accompanied by the above mentioned proof)

• mail, cards received and/or send with both names on the receiver/sender

• proof of gifts - if names or information of the both are shown

• pictures(make sure to write details like: date, place and people in the pics)

Hopefuly I was of help. This was what I could come up at the moment. If I am remembered of something else I will let you know.

Good luck with everything!
