Hello

I've tried to book our interview on the https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv but it's asks for a DS - 260 confirmation number, is this the same as the DS -160 number?

thanks!

Don’t quote me but I believe a DS-260 is for CR1 and DS-160 is for the K1. As we are applying for the K1 we have filled in a DS-160

Hey, it's totally fine. it can be hard to navigate through the posts here and decide what's relevant or not. I enjoy helping.

That's great your DS-160 is fine. You need the DS-160 number to book the interview, that's the only reason you need to do this first. For example, I booked my interview when my case status still said "In transit", this was about 4 weeks ago now. I didn't receive my confirmation letter from the embassy until last week.

They do not schedule your interview, you need to create an account online and you book it yourself, and it's at this point you pay the VISA fee, and choose if your VISA will be delivered by courier or you will pick it up from a specified place.

They will eventually send an A4 envelope containing a copy of your approved petition, and a letter with the a web address (https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv) to book your interview. But you can do this before you receive your petition and everything back.

Hey! So, I'm in a similar boat here, and am kind of confused as well.

Our case left the NVC yesterday too, and is now "in transit" to US Embassy in London. My fiancé booked is medical exam as soon as we got out NVC case number.

That said, I'm kind of confused about when we would be able to book the interview. Just to make sure I'm understanding how you did it, are you saying that you were able to book your interview after you submitted your DS-160, but before you case arrived and was marked "ready" at the Embassy? If that's the case, is that something we should do as well, or would you say that it's better to wait to book the interview until the case has actually arrived and is ready at the Embassy?

Sorry for the questions here! I'm just super confused about what happens next, and want to make sure we don't accidentally do something that would stall our case from here. Thanks!

no problem at all!

yes my case was "in transit" when i booked my interview. if it's too early it won't let you book the interview. as long as you give enough time between medical and interview you'll be fine. I would give it a shot at the end of the week. it won't stall anything.

my understanding is that they get a digital file and then the cases status changes once the physical file has been received. which means you can book your interview once your details are in the system.

most welcome. :) I felt okay doing this because i had a 4 week wait for my medical. must add that I wouldn't do that if my medical was 1 week later if you see what I mean?

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying! My fiancé hasn't done the DS-160 yet, but will finish it by the weekend. He was able to book his medical for the 8th of August, and would love to book his interview for sometime around the 22nd of August (to hopefully leave enough time between the medical and the interview). Hopefully, that will be more than enough time.

I've posted the Affidavit of Support along with tax transcripts, and a letter from my employer, and that should get to my fiancé in England by July 30th. It sounds like we'd have all our documents together in time, so we're just trying to make sure we have all of our ducks in a row before booking the interview. Thanks again for the help! I really appreciate hearing about your experience!

Happy to have helped! Looks like you have everything in order, the dates you have in mind are fine. Just get him to book the interview ASAP as I'm not sure what the wait time on appointment times are there at the moment. Good luck with everything :)!

Thanks again! That was incredibly kind and helpful of you! I really appreciate it! He's working on the DS-160 now, and should have it done soon, so I imagine he'll be able to book the interview any day now.

Good luck to you as well! Exciting things happening! :jest:
