Renewing EAD and AP

Well, hubby's AOS is pending FBI clearance and his EAD and AP expire in mid-December.

I know that the fees will go up -- from what I can tell so far, these documents will now cost between $305 and $340, for a total of $645

Our questions:

1. When will the adjusted fees go into effect? Or has this not been determined yet?

2. If we file in August for documents that are not expiring until december, will they be returned to us?

Basically we want to make sure that before they expire we have the new ones, lest hubby have to stop

working for two whole weeks again this year.

Renewal EAD: You should apply for a renewal EAD six months before your original EAD expires.

see... http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

apply in plenty time and then you should not have any break in employment....

Greetings

I hadn't read anything suggesting that the I-765 and I-131 fees would increase. If you don't mind my asking, where did you get those amounts?

I have read about the proposed I-485 fee increase to $905 from $325, although this amount, if I'm understanding things correctly, would include EAD and AP fees until the application is approved. In our case, that would have been a better deal! We've already paid a total of $1025--I-485, plus original and renewal EAD and AP docs-- FBI background check delay being the culprit. Check out page 2 under Reduction of Weighted Average: http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/FSMethod1.pdf.

If these proposed fees are approved, I'm not sure how the CIS would deal with already pending cases. It would seem fair to waive future document fees if the applications continue to be delayed, but this is the CIS we're talking about...

I hope I don't sound like a dork. Well, I probably do. :-)

In any case, definitely renew your docs three months in advance and save yourself anxiety!

OK, so we can apply for EAD 6 months before it expires. But, what about advanced parole? anybody know how far in advance we can apply for the renewal of AP?

Thanks all!
