N-400 or N-600

Hello

 

I am going to the Oath Ceremony tomorrow, and become a U.S citizen.

 

My son who is 2 years old has a green card through me and had it for 2 years.

After I become a U.S citizen tomorrow, is he eligible to switch to U.S citizen? if so, what form do I need to fill out? N-400 or N-600? I am little confused....

Neither.  You apply for a passport for him.

You can file an N-600 so he has his own certificate, but it's not necessary. He automatically becomes a citizen when you do. You can just apply for a passport for him directly.

So, I do not need to file anything and he becomes us citizen? does that mean I can take him to USPS, and make the passport tomorrow?

He automatically becomes a citizen the moment you take the oath. When you apply for his passport the evidence of his citizenship will be his GC & your naturalization certificate.

Are you a citizen yet? He only becomes a citizen when you do. You can't file for kids' passports at the post office...

Look for the nearest acceptance facility here. Like I said, under-16 minors cannot apply via mail. (Nor can you, when you apply for your first US passport. You'll be able to renew yours via mail.)

I think you need to go to a passport office (usually a county courthouse or some suchlike) to apply for a kid's passport, rather than the post office.

I don't think he's thinking of using the mail to apply. USPS is a great source for passport application centers. You can do your first and all subsequent renewals at their passport centers. Not all USPS centers offer passport services so you have to search for the ones that do.
