Hi guys,

So like many of you, my GC has expired, and I'm on the 1 year extension letter. This ends September where I need to make an infopass appointment to get my passport stamp (where I hear they may/may not take away my GC).This will allow me travel.

Issue is that I'm about to get a new job in October and they will require proof of residency. Is the passport stamp really enough to satisfy employers? Is there any literature online that I can show to prove its a valid method for me working in the US?

Or do I need to ask the infopass appointment guys to give me something else?

Cheers all!

You heard the truth. They will take the expired GC away

Form I-551, which will be stamped on a page in your passport, is actually a GC. Tell youe employer to call USCIS if they doubt it is a GC. (The only difference between the one in your passport and the standalone card is that you are carrying a GC which is not green, is not plastic, and is not the size of a DL... and a few other silly irrelevant differences, like the fact that ignorant employers only know the plastic GC.

They will give you nothing else.

Cheers all!

Have one!
