getting US police records while awaiting AOS

Hello everyone,

I couldn't find a thread about this so here's my question: I'll need my police records (which fortunately will be clean) for some paperwork completely unrelated to my visa/AOS/life the US (another country's embassy requests it). it's kiiinda urgent. I came here with the K1 visa and my current status is waiting for the green card interview to be scheduled. I already did the biometrics appointment so hopefully my fingerprints don't need to be taken again for this.

 

any advice on how to obtain it? if anyone else here had to do it, how did it work out?

Is this for like a work visa? I had to get one for Angola, Africa before for mine.... they just accepted a copy from the local sheriffs office of that county I lived in....

thanks! I honestly don't know and I'm trying to find out (it's for... a citizenship 😳😳😳😳 )

it'll probably be the more in depth one. I'll still go to the local office and try to get that, but hopefully other people with AOS experience can tell me about the other one

 

PS: did you need your passport to get that, or were you OK with a driver's license / state ID..?

For me just used ID, 2 or 3 different ones to verify myself, think used passport as one of them. I'm the US citizen though so for anyone AOS'ing and all I'd use passport too.

 

Again hopefully osmeone can point you in the right direction for the more in depth background check/reports; but the Angolan consulate and all accepted simple county clearance from the sheriffs office but you may need more than that for citizenship somewhere else.
