While applying for a spouse visa in the UK can be straightforward, it is less so if your sponsored is disabled and struggling to meet the financial requirements. However, disabled citizens in the UK are entitled to a benefit known as Disability Living Allowance (DLC). This, in turns, means they are exempt from meeting the strict financial income threshold which is required for spouse visas.

If you do file a K-1, and are successful, have you s/o talk to his doctor in the UK about getting as many inhalers as he can. It doesn't seem far fetched, as my husband was given enough medication to last him here in the US before he had healthcare.

I wish you the best in whichever path you choose.

Inhalers expire, most expire in about a year. So they would not be able to get enough for three years before moving here.

My asthma specialist will give me sample inhalers during my visits when they are available for free, but samples depends on the sales reps in the area for that type of medication. So there is no promise the medical doctors would have asthma inhalers always on hand for samples for patients.

Hello all, My Fiance is coming from the UK. We are applying for a K-1 Visa to get married. I was wondering about his healthcare because he doesn't get it until he becomes a citizen. What can we do in the meantime? He has inhalers that he needs every month and I just looked it up on the internet. They will be expensive to pay per month. Is there anything we could do for his medication needs? He can't go 3 years without his medication.

It will likely take more than three years to become a US citizen. I would expect it would be closer to 4-4.5 years with all the paperwork time and processing times.

It is 3 years from the issued date of your spouses Green Card. My husbands card took 7 months from when we applied for AOS last year.  We  applied for AOS 4 weeks after he entered the country on the K1 (you have to wait for your marriage license to be issued once married).

There is also currently a processing time for the Naturalization process. My friend told me he has been waiting 6 months and expects to wait another 4-6 months before his filed paperwork is picked up and looked at for his Naturalization.

That's fair. I've been milking the same out of date inhalers for years, but I'm also lucky and my asthma has lessened as the yeas have gone on. :(
