What happens after NOA2?

We were recently approved by USCIS, however it's been a week and the USCIS website still says "Your petition was approved". I have the following questions at this point:

1. When does the USCIS send the petition to NVC after it has been approved and does the case status on USCIS change to "your case has been sent to NVC"? If so, how long it takes from being approved to approved petition being sent to NVC and the same to be reflected on the USCIS website?

2. How do I check that the NVC has received the petition?

The time from USCIS to NVC varies, but you have to give it at least 14 days and then you can start calling NVC for your case and invoice #

USCIS website is done for you now. Your case wont change there anymore. After 10 to 15 days the NVC will receive your case and appoint it a new number. They wont contact you at this point, you need to call them if you want to know the case number sooner. After 10 days you can start calling. I got mine after 10 days.

Once the NVC is done with your case they will send it to the embassy, this can take 2 to 4 weeks (NVC says 4 to 6 weeks). THe NVC will send you an email or letter that they forwarded the petition to the embassy with the casenumber ect.

Once the case is at the embassy they will send package 3 to the beneficiary, which contains all he information he or she needs to complete the K1 application at the embassy.

Every embassy is unique in asking for certain evidence or documents. So make sure to fill out your account with information on the embassy you need to go through so we can help you better.

Took them 3 weeks as they changed over our application to electronic methods. That was in April to May.

Sometimes USCIS will update the status to "Your case was sent to the Department of State...". However, updates on their website are incredibly unreliable, so you may also never see an update there again.

 

For NVC you can start calling them after a few weeks to inquire about your case. I'm not sure how long it's taking right now.

Mine took 9 business days. Call after a week and they’ll tell u. Eventually it will show up on the website too.

Yes. It will show up eventually but it won’t do much difference. Once you know, you know.. and you’ll be wanting to keep an eye on receiving a case number

It took a little over a month from our approval at USCIS to receive date at NVC. We are still waiting for a case number; going into week 3 now. Good luck to you. You should definitely follow the July 2018 NVC thread. I've been reading on there and there is a ton of information and support from others who are in the same boat as us right now.
