How many pay stubs did you provide? I was planning on submitting the 4 more recent. Is this sufficient?

I print them out from Jan 1st to cover from the beginning of the current tax year and match them up with the bank statements that go with the deposit dates.

LOL I just realized how bad that last post looked.  My wife and I have been in/out of the country several times for extended periods so they're all for her - I'm not a serial husband / serial sponsor LOL.

Haha, I thought 5 seemed like a funny number! Okay, I'll do the same. Side question: every time your wife/you leave the country you have to file an affidavit of support? Or is that a completely separate conversation altogether? I'm new to this obviously haha :)

Hello,

but I was also told by an attorney that adding a joint sponsor complicates things..and I definitely don't want to complicate things any more than is necessary.

Sometimes, from what I read,  an attorney can make things complicated (Not all, just some)

K3/AOS = 2 surrendered green card refiled new petition = 1 left US again filed SB1 = 1 so 4 not 5.

No, you have to refile for immigration benefits if you are out for an extended period of time and basically starting over.  I always attach the exact same documentation and it works for me so thought I'd share.  Being on the income edge puts the couple at subjective determination by whoever's reviewing the documents resulting in possible delay while you scramble to get a joint sponsor and it is suggested that you put that issue away immediately.  Best of luck!

Hello,

I'm in the process of filling out the I-864 and I have a question about the financials. Last year I made $22k, which is reflected on my 2017 tax return. This year, I had a baby, and therefore my household size grew to 3, and the income requirements increased to $25,525. I am currently on track to earn approximately 27,500 - 28K by the end of this year, which is above the minimum income requirement. So my questions are:

1. Do I enter my expected annual income on the form Part 5.7 ? Or do I enter what I have earned YTD?

2. Should I add a joint sponsor because I didn't earn enough last year? Or will the fact that I will earn more than 125% of the poverty threshold this year be sufficient?

I'm concerned about being denied because of the financials, but I was also told by an attorney that adding a joint sponsor complicates things..and I definitely don't want to complicate things any more than is necessary.

I appreciate any advice or insight.

Can you get a verification of employment letter from your employer's HR department? If you can, this should show what your current annual salary is and can be included.

Your current employment is what counts. However, you’re too close to the cut so a co-sponsor would definitely be required even if just for peace of mind. I’ve seen people on this forum say that they didn’t get approved because they financial was just above the poverty line and the CO didn’t think it was enough.
