Assistance Requested - Interview Scheduled

Hi Everyone! 

July AOS 2017 Filer here. I received “scheduled interview” notice for beginning of August.

Too bad, I found out that this whole thing has been a sham. 

Can anyone direct me to a help section on stopping this process & notification to the proper departments?

Also, is there anyway to recoup any of my financial losses?

If you mean you hope to get a refund of USCIS fees, no.

I am the petitioner. And I went in knowing the fees were non refundable. I’m talking about any money that he has scammed me out of since we have been married.

That's probably a good question for a divorce lawyer, if you have any proof and if there is any recourse depending on your personal circumstances/claim...nothing to do with immigration.

 

Immigration-wise, most USCs in your position take the step of withdrawing the i-864, as well as not attending the actual AOS interview.

You can withdraw any application or petition before it has been processed and approved.  The best way is to do it in writing.

I am sorry to hear that, but I am glad you found out at this point and not further along in the process (ie after the green card). I think there are many people who may, on some level, suspect they are being scammed but do not want to admit it to themselves, much less others, so I admire you for being able to do that. Yes, you can and should report suspected marriage fraud to USCIS and/or ICE. Just make sure there is no evidence that you were knowingly part of the scam, which I am sure is the case. 

 

There are sometimes people on this forum who have unknowingly entered romance scams or perhaps suspect they are, any information you can give about your experience and the signs of a romance scam will surely be helpful to others. Personally I see signs of it on this forum but no one will ever listen to reason when they are in love  So you have more credibility in terms of conveying that info.
