Hi everyone,

I had my interview for the DS-260 visa on the 20th July and was approved.

The whole process was quick - My interview was arranged for 9.30am so I arrived at the Embassy for 9am.

The South Pavillion is round the back of the building if you are coming from the main road. There was a queue but it moved quickly. They check your passport, your DS-260 confirmation print out and your appointment confirmation print out. This took about 10 mins and I was asked to stand to the side with some other DS-260 applicants as we were not allowed in the building until 10 minutes before our interview.

At 9.20am we went into security. This was quick and is just like at the airport.

From there we went into the main building - there was quite a long visa queue but Immigration candidates are allowed to skip the line and head to the front. I was given my number and sent to the first floor.

Within 5 minutes of arriving here, I was called to the window - the first part was made up of giving fingerprints and going through paperwork. They took my passport and asked to see my marriage certificate, birth certificate and police certificate. I was asked when I planned on traveling to the States if all went well.

I was then sent back to sit down - there was a slight delay as they didn't have my medical results to hand as I had done the medical early, back in May.

After about 5 more minutes I was called to a second window. They took my fingerprints again and was asked to take an oath that I was telling the truth.

I was then asked the following:

Where did you meet your wife?

Where did you get married and when?

Who went to the wedding?

That was it!

The man then explained that my visa application had been successful and that my passport etc would be sent back to me within the next two weeks.

Everyone I met at the Embassy was super helpful and friendly.

Good luck to everyone going through the process - don't get anxious about the interview, it really is the easiest part of the whole thing.

Congratulations! Welcome to the USA.

The interview was actually the worst part for me and involved a lot more questioning than you had but not all of us have a straightforward case. Hence I am hesitant to tell people it's the easiest part. But for the majority going through London the interview is easy.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath
