Yes you need your package 3 for updated copy, personally picking the one online as yours can be misleading.  I mean currently someone already misled you that you have to sign and return the package to the embassy. ill suggest you patiently wait for your copy of package 3, it will tells you everything yo need to do for your medical and police report.

Nope, you can fill out your DS 160 and  book your interview as soon as you have your case number and your case shows "ready". Medical can be done 3 weeks before interview and by then you should get your package 3.

You are really amazing n very helpful Thank you!

Hey all!

About the financial docs for interview.

How many months bank statements do we need? My banker gave me my bank statements for the last year and I must say it is a whole lotta papers I am not sure the consulate will need all that. So back to my question, do I just need statement for 3months, current balance and date the account was open?

What interview are you talking about ? cos for I-129F, you need your sponsor's 2018 tax return, most recent pay stub for like 3 months  and W2. I am not 100% sure if applicants are requested to submit financial documents  for I-129F interviews.

If you're employed, you only need the 3 years tax document, w2 and pay stub.  if you're self employed then you'll need the bank statement as part of support document for the proof of financial stability.    but how much info you need from the bank, that i dont know.

Our case status is showing “READY”. Once we pay the $265 fee and fill out the DS-160, will we set the appointment online or do we have to wait for an email from the consulate? I’m a bit confused because some people say you can set the appointment online then others say you have to get an interview date via email from the consulate.

You have to contact the embassy to schedule your appointment.  You can do it online.

You can fill out DS 160, pay the Visa fee and book the appointment as soon as you get case number and your case shows "ready" meaning the embassy received your case.  after you've booked your interview, email the embassy to request your package 3.   your package 3 will give you details on where to do your medical and police report.   You medical can be done 3 weeks before your interview.   Email the embassy at lagosIV@state.gov

Thank you so much for explaining the process thoroughly!  I will do just as you said.
