So I just recieved my case number by calling the nvc and am now thinking ahead to my medical in interview. I live in northern ireland however and all k1 visas must be dealt with the london embassy so i will have to travel. I am a little concerned as to how i will be able to choose when the medical and interview are, i have read many different posts saying some people were able to book their own medicals and interviews but then seen other posts saying they were only able to book their own medicals? Im very confused and stressed as you can imagine trying to organise possibly 2 trips to london with flights and accomodation so if anyone could give me some piece of mind as to how you can book the two appointments together if possible please!!!

Help is most appreciated!!

P.S. I have not recieved any letters from the nvc or my embassy, just have the noa2 letter so it may be a bit early i know but i am just panicking a little.

London applicants all book their own medicals directly with Knightsbridge doctors.

London K-1 people book their own interviews. As do London DCF IR-1/CR-1 people. The only people who don't book their own interviews in London are the unfortunate souls whose IR-1/CR-1 goes through the NVC (I was in this group of people).

You should allow at least 10 days between the medical and the interview so that the results can be interpreted and sent to the embassy in good time. If you have a smaller gap, your visa will be put on hold pending the medical results.

We actually have it easier with regard to travel in the U.K. than other countries. Some people (Denmark is one that springs to mind) have to travel to another country for their interviews and all Canadians have to go to Montreal - that's a 5-and-a-half-hour flight from Vancouver, for example. It is what it is. Most of us didn't or don't live in London and the travel to the medical and embassy is all just part of the immigration circus. But if you only want to make the journey once you will have a delay in receiving your visa.
