Job fair or networking is the best solution. Linkedin is a good platform.

Applying online won't get you much, they don't even read resume submitted online.

"It's not what you know, it's who you know" and this has been proven to be working.

BS hiring system, but you gotta play their game.

All but 1 of my jobs has been from filing the application online then having an interview. I only knew people already working for/with the company or hiring decision maker twice (my entry level position and a summer job when I was under 20).

Specifics will matter - industry, job role, etc.

This is so true! Unless you apply for a job at Target or similar.

But otherwise, the only thing I have gotten out of applying for a job online was a scammer who thought I was dumb enough to believe him. Best way to get a job is to know someone in the field/company you want to work in.

Thank you guys!

It's intetesting to see that it's pretty similar to the UK.... online, network, confidence, dress code etc. Thank you!!!

Kris&me: I'm starting to notice that job fairs are quite a thing over there.....

I'm nearly 50 and have never seen one on this side of the world.... how does that work please?

Everything is automated and most of the resume submitted only won't be read by a human. So you'll miss a lot of chance just by apply online.

Career fair is the good way to get your resume to HR and it's also the first contact, first impression.
