Wow, that's strange. I'm not from Texas obviously, but good to know. But if you get stopped by law enforcement and they check the serial number on the gun and it doesn't come back to you I would think you would have problems. When they run mine it obviously comes back registered to me, and away I go, no issues.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. When they run your NCIC  check it may take longer than for a us citizen. I sell long guns in Iowa and have had some try to purchase and rather sale had to be delayed till the check came back. It may be as fast a purchase as for a citizen.

In Texas there is no gun registry. You dont have to register a firearm. Even when you sell one you dont need to go through an FFl or have it transferred, you can just sell it with a bill of sale. If you get stopped, the police will run the gun to see if it is stolen if they have suspicion. Many people sells guns with just a bill of sale here.

Same in Arkansas....no registry......For my protection, I always made sure I created a proper paper trail when I made a private firearm transaction.

Nice, I only have the few I carry registered granted, they don't need to know about everything. Same here for private sales you can just do a bill of sale, but I usually meet the person at a local police station and do the transfer there. They move the gun registration from my name to the person who I'm selling it to. Keeps me safe from any repercussions down the line. My class 3 stuff is also registered with the BATF, I'm not sure if they are registered locally, but I did need the sheriff's sign off on any of my class 3 stuff, so I know someone knows I have it.  They don't charge for it, so not a big deal. You used to have to register any gun you carry on your CCW, and they used to charge to add a gun to your CCW, but they got rid of that requirement. Back when I first got my CCW you had to qualify with a revolver and a semi auto . If you only had one or the other you would get a revolver only or automatic only restriction on your CCW, but that's gone now to. Wish they would do what Arizona did and if your a resident you don't need a permit to carry concealed anymore. Saves the 100 bucks every 5 years, but if you have a carry permit you are not required to do the background check when you buy a gun. So that saves 25 bucks when you go to buy at a gun store.

Thank you EM for the info and the compliment. It does feel like so long ago when the picture was taken!

We are slightly worried that under the current administration at the federal level, purchase of a hangun could be used to deport! It may not be true but it could be too right. Sot hinking we should just get it in me spouse's (the white american boy in the pic :P )name

Yes you can get a gun. The Trump administration has nothing to do with it.

Sometimesshooting places have "Ladies'Night" when women can shoot for free! At mine, both I and my husband can shoot free on Wednesdays.

Will this affect my I-751 or I-400 application when i aplly for it?

Yes you can, mine (I-751) is pending and I was approved and it arrived 6-7 days after having my prints done with no issues.

You have to be the registered owner of the gun you carry. Carrying right now at the dentist office, lol. But in Nevada you can have dual registration on a gun ( you can register it in both your names) then either person can carry it. I am sure it is the same in Texas, they are a pretty gun friendly state. Here it takes 3-4 months after your class to get the permit so the sooner you take the class the sooner you can go apply for it. I think Texas has limited open carry also, you might still need a permit even to open carry if memory serves, but they have a rural open carry law of some sort. Do a little research or ask at a reputable gun dealer that offers the class. Some will give you the class for free if you buy a gun there.

Thank you Loren,

Sadly I love my life and my husband even more to open carry!

THen why does the store keep insisting that we do an FFL transfer? They also said that for a GC holder the transfer might take about 3-4 days while for the citizen it is only 20 mins. Or were they talking about the background check?

Just read from @G Walters that it is the NCIC check! Thanks a ton guys. Y'all've been really very helpful!
