I applied for my I-751 in Sep 2017 and am currently on the NOA which is valid till Dec 2018.

During this time, can I apply for LTC?

Will this affect my I-751 or I-400 application when i aplly for it?

Thank you Emm.

Also do you think I could purchase a firearm in my name during this time?

I wouldn't see why not. As long as you meet state and federal requirements to own a handgun and are a resident of Texas. Btw, The picture of you two is adorable.

Thank you EM for the info and the compliment. It does feel like so long ago when the picture was taken!

We are slightly worried that under the current administration at the federal level, purchase of a hangun could be used to deport! It may not be true but it could be too right. Sot hinking we should just get it in me spouse's (the white american boy in the pic :P )name

I just looked at your timeline. You can apply for naturalization in September!

Assuming you meet these requirements:

- Still married to the same person you immigrated for

- Not being outside the US for a year or more in a row

- Not being outside the country for a total of 18 months or more

- Must be living in the same place for at least 3 months before petitioning.

You could do that. I know you can get your concealed carry licence. But I don't know if you have to be the owner of the gun to carry it.

- Must be living in the same place for at least 3 months before petitioning- Have lived at the samea address since i got to America.

I know that I am eligible to apply in Sep 2018 but i have been reading some of the other VJ travelers who applied for I-751 in Jan and are still awaiting approval and some of them have applied for i-400 (naturalization) and during the interview they were told that they cant apply for 400 unless 751 has been decided upon!

the USCIS is an absolute poo-show now!!

I know :( I have seen others apply for their naturalization successfully while they had a pending i-751. Their n-400 forced adjudication of the i-751. But I have also seen the cases you mentioned where their n-400 wouldn't be processed until their i-751 approval. I say why not have your foot in the door and apply when you are eligible.

1.  There is absolutely no basis for such a fear.  Sounds like someone is spreading ridiculous Trump phobia.

2.  A CCL does not extend to other members of the family...

Unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon probably would result in severe penalties....

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

You have to be the registered owner of the gun you carry. Carrying right now at the dentist office, lol. But in Nevada you can have dual registration on a gun ( you can register it in both your names) then either person can carry it. I am sure it is the same in Texas, they are a pretty gun friendly state. Here it takes 3-4 months after your class to get the permit so the sooner you take the class the sooner you can go apply for it. I think Texas has limited open carry also, you might still need a permit even to open carry if memory serves, but they have a rural open carry law of some sort. Do a little research or ask at a reputable gun dealer that offers the class. Some will give you the class for free if you buy a gun there.

Dont have to be the owner of gun to carry it, at least in Texas.
